First off, congratulations for the grammys, Sam. But would he repeat his success with the same boring formula and continous over exposure? Not a chance. And I think he's not the type of artist who dares to reinvent himself and not repeating the same tried and tested formula that brought him past success.

We've had enough of Sam Smith.

I hate this kind of forecasting.

You can never tell for sure.

Like thousands of new artist yeah this could be it for him, but there's no gaurantees in the music business.

I'd say it depends. If he has a strong second album then his success will continue. But as he's said that the first was about the breakup of his relationship that could possibly have exhausted him creatively because the emotions would have been raw & it's kinda a powerful base to write songs from. I think the best love songs, or songs about love, are ones about heartbreak & failed relationships. I mean a song like 'All by Myself' has much more 'weight' to it because usually the path of love doesn't run smoothly. A corny love song with sugary lyrics is kinda devoid of any real substance & emotions, unless it's like for a Disney movie or a movie with a fairytale ending where in that instance it works, but apart from that the song is kinda too cheesy. So I think much more people can relate to a song like 'Stay with Me' and that's why songs like Sam's and Adele's albums strike such a chord with people, because they are written from a real place of heartbreak & sadness.

I find that by writing songs about his breakup, Sam Smith might have made the creative well run dry, unless he has some other strong songs to come. Plus people would soon be bored if his second album was the same as the first in terms of subject matter. Maybe he should do some collaborations on his next album and find some different subjects to write about it, otherwise he'd be stereotyped as a ballad singer and known just for melancholic songs.

His solo stuff is a bit dull and simple.

But the work he did with Disclosure and Naughty Boy was ace. I don't know who wrote those songs but they are perfect examples of good pop.

Even if is success ends in the states after this album he will always find an audience

That's probably why Taylor Swift is a serial dater.

All she does is write about her "relationships".

Then when someone turns the tables on her he's wrong.

There is nothing wrong with not reinventing yourself.

Good music is good music. When songs come from the heart people will listen to it.

I wouldn't want Adele to do something completely different on her next album.

Classic songs were not about reinventing, but about quality music.

Pretty lame by the way to want somebody's career to end.

The guy probably worked hard for it.

Sam Smith has a bit more going for his album than those two ballads ("I'm Not The Only One" and "Stay With Me"), and actually can flow on uptempo tracks as well (ie. ace collaborations with Disclosure). I can imagine Mary J Blige will return the favor and appear on his next album. There's more in store!

I love his collaboration with Nile Rodgers, Disclosure, and Jimmy Napes. I hope he delves more into the funk on his next record. His harmonies are sweeping and gorgeous.

Who knows, maybe he can dig-up some more music from some place and transpose it.

Yeah, I loved that track too. Very nice modern 'funk' with great vocals.
