50 never got over losing that first week sales bet that basically ended his career.

Fifty does not like Beyonce OR Jay Z. He has shaded them in the past. His comments are not surprising. John Legend is fake as hell and needs to sit down. He wants to clarify about Beck BUT Okay-ed Beyonce to sing Ledisi's song confused

Kanye needs the # to the battered womens hotline, cuz one o'these days, someone's gonna beat that BITCH 2 a pulp when he opens his flytrap-ass mouth 2 the wrong person. He needs 2 stfu. Artistry? ANYONE can rap. It's not hard 2 do, but not anyone can sing and 2 have 2 be Autotuned while in the process is so comPLETELY laughable.

If someone rushed the stage while he was accepting an award, can u imagine how pissed HE'D be? He can dish it, but can't TAKE it.

Hungry? Just look in the mirror and get fed up.

50 Cent: "Beck Deserved Album of the Year"
Feb 2015

People are still buzzing about Kanye West's reaction to Beck beating out Beyonce for Album of the Year during Sunday's Grammy Awards. Now, 50 Cent has weighed in.

The rapper explained why Beck, not Beyonce, was more worthy of the coveted trophy. "He produced the record, wrote the record," 50 Cent says of the alternative rocker in an interview with People Magazine. "There are 11 producers on Beyonce’s album. lol Kanye being a producer and a writer should see that. But we get jaded."

50's stance comes on the heels of Kanye's friend, John Legend, expressing a similar sentiment.

Kudos to Manson, 50 Cent, and John Legend!

.

Reading some of the comments here it's no wonder we have race issues in this world. Kanye's bullshit act gets defended because the Grammy's are racist? Kanye being called a racist because he threw a fit because a white boy won? Come on seriously? Why is everything made out to be all about race?

.

These damn Grammy's sparked more racial bullshit this year. Now say the tables were turned and Beck did what Kanye did and thought Perry or Swift deserved the award. I can guarantee Beck would have been called a racist. Even Prince's comment on Black Lives Matter has people gushing. Once again have a white artist say White Lives Matter and just watch the world go berserk. That does not make sense to me. Don't all lives matter? However I get why it was said and rightfully so. Probably why it had such an impact. I was angered by the incidents in NY and Ferguson also. I'm tired of the police and their jackboot mentality. Some of them are out of control and should be locked up themselves. Yet did all the looting and burning bring justice? No it just made a bad situation worse. That's really what I'm getting at here. We have enough racial tensions in this country yet people want to make winning or not winning an award a race issue. To me music has no boundaries and it's something that brings people together from all races and walks of life. Now they want to ruin that too?

.

I don't give a fuck what people think anymore because I'm so sick of the race bait shit. Say this, you are a racist. Do that, you are a racist. Oh and if you are white you are most definitely a racist. Right? Give me a fucking break! Sure most will label me as a racist just for this post. Well too bad, I'm NOT RACIST! I judge a person based on their actions and deeds in life period! I don't give a shit what color your skin is. Kanye's actions make him look like an asshole period. I don't care if he's green or purple. Hell I hate our president because of his policies yet I get called a racist because he's black. So why are blacks never called racists? Because they're not? Bullshit! It takes 2 to tango baby!

.

Makes me sick we will never be as one because people love to be manipulated and turned against each other because of the color of their skin. White and black both! Divide and conquer is the game it's working well here in the USA. Playing right into their hands. I guess that's why I don't let race influence me. I don't like being manipulated and played.

I'm gonna pick on you. First of all, you speak of racism in an institution thats well-known for their favoritism in the voting group for the Grammy's. You ever decide to look outside of your box and think for a split second that there very well may be black voters in this group? I bet you there are and if there werent, ignorant folk such as yourself would have been crying foul over it for many years now. How hypocritical are you exactly? And since Im getting the vibe (even though you havent said it yourself) that you're pro-Kanye over this little Tiff, allow me to school you a tad: BECK is an actual artist. He actually composes and performs his material, and is well-respected amongst his peers as a true musician hell bent on mixing things up and challenging himself. Beyonce? Sure, shes a 100% icon, but she damn sure aint no "artist" in the purest sense of the word. She doesnt write her own material, shes got a team of eager producers to do such a boring task for her. Kanye barked up the wrong tree by disrupting Beck's moment simply because everyone with the smallest amount of knowledge about Beck knows hes the real deal. You wont admit it, but you're playing the race card (your avatar tells me you're black) and that totally stupid comment about Zakk Wylde (the "redneck" guitar player above) REALLY shows your ignorance. You can't be on Kanye's side because you agree that Beyonce is an "artist" can you? Not a chance, because shes not. Shes everything BUT, and I respect the hell out of B. I just think you're leaning towards Kanye's side because you're "Blackness" won't allow you to look at it through more fair eyes and refusing to accept that Mr. West made a real ass of himself, the worse time he ever has. And do yourself two favors? First: go on Beck's Wikipedia page and educate yourself and realize hes 100% legit and that Kanye West picked the wrong person to diss. And Second: Do not reply to this message. It'll only piss me off further and nothing you can say on the contrary will change my wrath towards your idiocy.

If Eminem made the year's best rap album, and he DIDN'T win at, say, the BET or NAACP Awards, isn't that a form of racism too ?

Many of the Grammy voters are older, and they know what is very popular. Whether you like it or not , Em and Amy Winehouse and Adele were extremely popular , with huge hits that crossed over a lot of formats. That's what matters. Hey- Lou Reed and the Velvet Underground were highly influential, and they never won a Grammy either. The Grammys are about Popular Art, with the emphasis on both words

Well I mean Eminem has won awards at Black award shows, so I don't think they wouldn't award him if they thought he had the best rap album. The thing is Eminem isn't going to dominate a whole caterogry like he does at the Grammys, at a Black award show. It doesn't really make sense to me that he dominates a genre that's a predominitely "Black" one. Eminem could make his shittiest album ever and still win Best Rap at the Grammys. lol

And yeah I know the Grammys are about popularity mainly, that's another reason why I don't really care. But isn't it interesting that those White artists that sing "Black" music are more popular than the Black people that sing the same thing? I guess there's no novelty when Black people do it lol.

The Grammy show has become a POP MUSIC show in the last few years. I don't know how old you are, but I've been watching these shows since the 1970s. It is only in the last 5 years or so that only the biggest artists get to perform. In the past, you would get Opera singers, classical orchestras, jazz combos, hard-core country singers, Latin groups, bluesmen...they would all get at least a little time on TV. Now, you have people performing songs that were just released that aren't even NOMINATED for an award (such as Kanye, Rhianna, and Madonna). The winners in other categories don't even get a mention on-screen anymore !

The Grammy voters are older, and many are actual musicians and songwriters. What they appreciate is an artist who knows their craft and does many things, like a Beck. In recent years the Album award has gone to Arcade Fire, Steely Dan, Norah Jones, even Herbie Hancock doing jazz interpretations of Joni Mitchell songs...these are artists writing and playing and in many cases producing their own work. On the other hand, Beyonce is seen as having too many writers and producers to have a consistant album that reflects her peronality and intentions . It's seen as "product" crafted to make money (like a "Tranformers" film), andnot an artistic statement. (I myself did not care for what little I heard of the album, and I generally like her work). The ideal Grammy artist is Stevie Wonder, because he writes , produces, and performs all his own works.

Yeah I'm college-aged so I guess our perspectives of the Grammys are different. In the 70s black artists were getting rewarded for black music, and now white artists get rewarded for black music lol and I don't have anything against that, it'd just be nice for the black artists that do soul or hip-hip to be as recognized as adele, sam smith, macklemore, and eminem.

Kanye's act is tired. He should concentrate on continuing to help rap evolve. I honestly never heard of Beck before the Grammys or this Shirley Manson. Both acts (Beck and Garbage) are established, talented musicians with several albums/hits/tours behind them. You should get their albums! Garbage's hits package would probably be enough.

.

One more sidebar for Phunkdaddy, Shirley Manson and Garbage were formed by prolific producer Butch Vig as an artistic vision of sorts blending the grunge/rock sound with early elements of what is now called EDM. Some of their stuff sounds really dated now but they have a few really stellar songs.

.

Well the sentence following I clearly explain I do see the difference. The profiling and excessive force is getting out of hand. I get it. It's happening to little kids with toy guns, old confused people, and even the handicapped. Yes the majority have been black. But making it a black only problem will not fix it. Just causes more division. Make it a black thing and the whites will treat it and see it as a black only thing. That's just not right. Make it a people thing. Because it's becoming a problem all over for everyone.

.

Let's not forget in the late 80's early 90's MTV pushed the whole gang-banger, crack smoking, cop killa culture on blacks and the world. They pushed and glorified it to the point where white kids started acting out and playing the part. While it opened doors for success it also profiled the black community in such a way. They want whites to see all blacks as drug dealing gun totin' thugs. It's programming and manipulation. I don't subscribe to that but the cops obviously do. Imagine the trouble there would be for some if blacks and whites were united in this country.

.

Yes I know green and purple skinned people don't exist. LOL! My point is that I'm colorblind and proud of it. So slam me for that? I say I live my life not being influenced by color you already are profiling me as white. That is what you call racial profiling. Yet it makes no sense because if I'm white wouldn't I just hate all blacks? Yet I don't hate and get called a whitey because I was raised not to be racist??? See what I mean? I personally find that offensive.

A person not being able to hold a perfect note or play an instrument doesn't matter when it comes to creativity and making music. Kanye hears great melodies in his head, he can hear songs and envision them into something else by adding and combining other songs. Contrary to what many seem to think not everyone can do this. You're really out of touch if you think musical genius only manifests itself in singing amazing and playing an instrument.

Creativity manifests itself in many, many ways.

The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

True, but Mr McDonald is obviously referring to Kanye's comment criticizing Beck's "artistry" and supposed lack of it. Artistry implies crafting, and dedicating ones time and effort towards mastering their craft. It is not easy to become a competent singer, let alone a competent singer, player of more than a dozen other instruments, songwriter and producer. That shit is epically HARD and takes a lot of patience.

I understand fully what he was saying and I agree that Kanye should be criticized for saying what he said because it simply doesn't make any sense. But Michael's then dismissal of Kanye's genre or method of creating is what I take issue with. No matter what some may think, creating music - however that may be done, is still an art, and an art that can be mastered through time and effort. Kanye takes his craft very seriously and although he may be regarded as a total douchebag, he is also regarded as a brilliant artist by many of the types of people you described - the amazing singers, the songwriters, the multi instrumentalists...including Beck.

Kudos to Manson, 50 Cent, and John Legend!

Even Prince's comment on Black Lives Matter has people gushing. Once again have a white artist say White Lives Matter and just watch the world go berserk. That does not make sense to me. Don't all lives matter?

Oh don't be obtuse now. Not sure why you can't see the difference in a white artist saying that. White people aren't being racially profiled and unjustly killed left and right by the police. Of course all live matters - which is why there's an emphasises on black lives mattering too just as much as anyone elses, because these days it seems like they don't matter.

I don't even know about the rest of your post lol. Green and purple people don't exist. Sure black people get called racist too. Just speak some real shit about race and there you have it lol "You're a black miliant racist!" And I guess it's easy to not let race influence you when you're not a person of color? But anyway I don't think Kanye's antics had anything to do with race, he's just being asshole Kanye.
