is FKA Twigs a Black Bjork? Man, i tried to get into her album and for the life of me, just couldn't. I don't get all the rave. Are music critics just into general weirdness and atmospherics of what? It reminded me of when i tried to get into Bjork when her Vespertine album came out, i even took the reviewers advice and listened with headphones at night under my covers and was like WTF!! SMH, i'm sorry, i'm not feeling this chick, i don't get the hype

Love her! but i don't think she's quite as essentric as Bjork. She has her own style can't wait for her next album! Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

Shouldn't the question be: Is FKA Twigs the new Bjork? What does being black have to do with it?

I like her album a lot, but I tend to like genre challenging music. Im actually just as suprised as you are that its gotten so much praise though, because when I first heard her I assumed she wouldnt be most people cup of tea. Change it one more time..

Funny you ask this...isn't Alejandro Ghersi (better known by his stage name Arca) working with Bjork on her next album? "There is no such thing in life as normal..."

I recall French filmmaker Mathieu Kassovitz commenting about being called "the white Spike Lee." He's a Spike admirer, but laughed at the ultimate absurdity of the notion, since Spike had once been touted as "the black Woody Allen" -- and Kassovitz is sooo ≠ Woody Allen. To me, this is kinda like saying that the avocado and the raspberry are like each other. The avocado is actually a member of the berry (while the strawberry isn't, google it), but they obviously taste completely different. The same applies here.

Twigs seems to have actual songs with tunes, rather than warbling nonsensical tuneless meanderings. I like Bjork's music up to about Vespertine, and since then I have found her unlistenable. I appreciate her artistic adventures, she continues to be incredibly imaginative, but the songs just aren't there to support her ideas.
