Foster was a co-lyricist on this track and eight of the twelve on the record; I’m surprised more hasn’t been made of her participation. Respecting D’Angelo’s current no-interview policy for “Black Messiah,” she was not available for comment, but hints of an interesting history can be gleaned from the available information.
I didn't know that D'angelo has "no-interview policy for Black Messiah."

I'm not the biggest D'angelo fan but I gotta give it up to him. The second performance was very riveting. The message: music and lyrics very much in the vein of Curtis Mayfield or Gil Scott Heron. D and his band were very earnest and I felt where they was coming from. 3121 #1 THIS YEAR

Yep, there is a pattern- I dislike singers who can't sing.
Give me Angie Stone, Teena Marie, Aretha, Dinah Washington, Amy Winehouse, Chaka, Faith, Mary J-women who can SANG. See a pattern? "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

Kendra sings soul with SOUL. Joss is so-so. Morgan is, like I've said, some serious Pottery Barn/Starbucks shit. It's like soul for a campus coffee shop. "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

I loved every minute of D's performances on SNL. The band is definitely tight and Jesse.....Lawd have mercy seeing Jesse perform with D during "Charades"...I know I would die if I don't see them in person this year. [Edited 2/1/15 11:35am] I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

CynicKill said: Back in 2012 when D'angelo was featured in GQ his trainer stated that he was 40 lbs from getting D'angelo back to his Voodoo era sexiness. So I wonder what happened. Does anyone secretly wish D were hot again so he could give the likes of Justin Timberlake some much needed commercial R&B run for their money? Besides tonights SNL appearance there's been no promotion. No video. No late night performances. I think he looks fine as he is now. He's still sexy at his size now. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

> Personally I'm just glad he looks like himself. It's a far cry from that mugshot pic from some years back. Wasn't in a good place at all. besides it would be foolish to even think of going back. I mean taking your shirt off at 40?
