I saw Bruce Springsteen & the E*STREET Band last Night!.... My Review

OK...here is the setlist, the sho wwas AWESOME!
somethin' i'll never 4get!

Melbourne,Australia
March 20th,2002:

BornInTheUSA (Acoustic)
WAR!
The Rising
Lonesome Day
No Surrender
Prove It All Night
Empty Sky
You're Missing
Waiting on a Sunny Day
Promised Land
Worlds Apart
Badlands
Out in the Street
Mary's Place (Bruce singing "Rescue Me" to Patti)
Countin on a Miracle
Backstreets
Into the Fire
---
Thunder Road
Bobby Jean
Ramrod
BornToRun
---
My City of Ruins
Land of Hopes & Dreams
Dancin in the Dark
Glory Days

On the way 2 the TelstraDome...well we needed 2 catch a tram or cab 2 get there...
& as we left our hotel...we could her chants...it was clear that the huge protest rally planned for the city streets of melbourne was in full swing.(actor Heath Ledger was even marching in the 20,000 strong crowd)

anyway...the tram had stopped on the intersection of Bourke St & Swanston St...stayed there for 5minutes...so we ended up walking 3mins up the street...sharing a cab 2 the Dome with a bruce fan & someone on their way home 2 St Kilda (beach-side suburb 5mins from the city, beautiful spot)

NOW we're at the stadium...merchandise prices r sky-high & i declined dad's offer 2 buy me a tour program...even after i declined 2 buy one myself...just on principal.
(& its not just Bruce's merchandise that is highly priced...a mate who saw RollingStones a couple weeks ago said t-shirts were $60au!)

a couple of beers... a chat with dad & a couple of dudes we met there...
& we're off 2 our respective seats.
mine was about 75 rows from the stage...but still a great spot (a bit echoey...as it is in that stadium...just cant help it...but u get used 2 it after 2 songs)

The crowd didn't get fully in2 the show until about halfway thru.
i could tell alot of people either went with partners who were fans but werent interetsted themselves,or just were afraid 2 rock out...
i certainly did do the latter.

My hope leading up2 the show was that he would play "WAR!"
& after playing BITUSA acoustic, with just a spotlight on Bruce & the rest of the stadium being dark...the spotlight went out & the 2hr&52min experience went-on-a-rockin!

all the stuff from DarknessOnTheEdgeOfTown was beautiful.
'prove it all night','Badlands' (ths is where the crowd finally got the hint they were at a rock'n'roll show & Promised Land blew me away.
Bobby Jean, all those hits from Born2Run & BornIntheUSA were incredible!

TheRising cuts sounded great,CountinOnAMiracle (the whole crowd SAT DOWN during this song, all but myself who LOVES this song with a passion & a few others stood)
bruce playfully said "THATS PATHETIC!" during a crowd sing-a-long on Waitin'OnASunnyDay... & also during another song he apparently said "IS ANYONE ALIVE OUT THERE!?".
but it was all in good nature...it certainly wasnt Bruce & the band's fault, they gave 1000% last night.

maybe a reason for the subjude (type-o?) responses at time, was the fact that alot of people in the front rows & sections were corporate people,celebs,...the only BOSS they would know is their Agent or Producer.

but then DancingInthedark & GloryDays got EVERYONE going nuts...as they would.

overall,it was just an incredible experience...dad even snagged a cheap ticket up the back & loved the show.

also i ran in2 the guy who sells bootlegs at record fairs here,he is from Victoria...& he had been there recording the show!

so i will get 2 hear it all over again.
one good thing about the quiet crowd during alot of songs is the boot' should sound fuckin excellent!
the Billyidol gig i went 2 in October,i have his recording of it & it sounds brilliant!!!
Bruce boot will end up being 3CD's i'd think.

SO...thats my xperience,sorry it isnt more in-depth.
just trying 2 remember everything, check up on org news i have missed,etc...
if u have a question about the show ask me & i'll get back 2 ya.

peace & heart
Joshy
