Since when is Nas a "trend?"

When was Nas' last hit? biggrin

This album seems to have way too many collaborators, is she trying to please everyone? I felt that with MDNA already but this one has even more cooks...

I like Nas, but I'm kind on the board with LiveToTell here.. the last outting I didn't care for so many cameos and collaborators, but I guess it depends on how everyone's being used. If they're an organic part of the tracks it different than just tagging on a rap at the end of something just to give it 15 seconds of a more urban vibe. Nas's best cross-over collab work IMO was the two tracks he did with Amy Whinehouse. Both made sense, and were top notch production and arrangement wise.

Change it one more time..

lowkey

why do she still need guest rappers or features with other people, just make a madonna album and stop trying to appear 'down'. madonna has become extremely annoying and thirsty in her old age

Nas is a timeless talent and one of the best. Collaborating with Madonna makes sense.

I have no problem with Madonna working with a rapper,as long as the song is good. For example,I thought Kanye West's rap on "Beat Goes On" was cool. That's one of the best songs on Hard Candy.

I agree. It would have easily followed "4 Minutes" into the Top 10.

Why is it that, almost everyone in pop music does songs with rappers, but when Madonna does it,she's "desperate" and "following trends"? confuse Everytime Mariah or Mary J.Blige release an album, you're bound to find rappers on it.Even Prince works with rappers from time to time. Why aren't they criticized?

If this was 1994...or better yet 1996...accusing her of "chasing trends" by working with Nas would make more sense. But who in almost 2015 works with Nas for the sake of being trendy? Is he such a surefire commercial grab that it'll substantially increase the sales and airplay value of whatever track of hers he'll be featured on? No. This ain't J. Cole or Kendrick LaMar she's licking the face of. Instead this looks like an icon working with another icon out of mutual respect.

It's because there were some years when Madonna completely abandoned her American roots and she exclusively worked with European electronic music producers so fans decided that not only that was the "real" Madonna but they always put her above Mariah etc who did the so called "bad and commercial music with guest acts". A lot of those fans ignore the pre-Ray Of Light days when Madonna started to go to hip hop just around the same time as Prince or MJ because they all knew it was the next big thing.

And yes that was my point of Nas, it's not like he's a chart topper now, so saying that Madonna works with him ONLY because of commercial purposes in 2014 is just silly.

Now that it's been a few days i have done a 180 and am TRULY excited to have Nas in the mix - please, oh please let his verse/song make the final tracklist.

I also hope they are sampling his track "Halftime" from Illmatic on her new track.

Are you more of a Hard Candy or Ray of Light type of boy/girl?

I really don't get the appeal of MaDonna.

I think there are about 10 songs in her whole career that I can tolerate.
