The biggest problem with Madonna's performance is that she had way too many unnecessary cameos. She's big enough that cameo's shouldn't have been necessary.

What's wrong with her performing with other artists? She performs with a lot of other people anyway, like all the dancers she has. I think it's cool she can share the stage with other people and allow them to have some of her spotlight. I don't think she thinks it's necessary to bring in other people, it's something she wanted to do and have fun with. Lighten up people. I don't see why people get so bent out of shape about her performing with other people.

Ten years from now when someone looks back at that performance they'll be like who the eff are these other random ass people she's wasting her time with? LMFAO? Really? She's supposed to be an icon and she invites LMFAO to peform with her at the Superbowl? Sorry, but that was a complete waste of air time.

Change it one more time..

I loved Madonna's performance, but I wish she hadn't opened with "Vogue".I think "Holiday" would have been a better choice. To many Americans, the SuperBowl is basically a holiday to them lol that song would have been more appropriate for the occasion.

SO, Katy's team must have caved on the NFL's contract that made the featured Half-time performer share future tour earnings.

hmmm I guess she's a "safe" choice.I was thinking that they would choose Lady Gaga, but she's more controversial.

I don't think it's a good choice because people who watch football are of all age groups not just young people. A lot of older people don't know one song by Katy Perry. Madonna was a much better choice because she started out in the 80's and has hits from three decades and everyone of all different ages knows her.

I know people were insisting they did not know any of Beyonce's songs when she did it shrug If acts like Beyonce, Black Eye Peas and Bruno can do it then Katy can do it. I personally would not have chose her but there are other acts that have performed half time that have no classics or Iconic songs. These organizers want to pick current acts but these current acts do not have classics. I think Bruno received the biggest rating because people were tired of the whole female formula pop act and wanted some instrumentation and live vocals which Bruno delivered. They should had asked a rock band to do it this year.

Madonna's halftime was not as bad as people made it out to be. I have seen better performances by her but I did not think it was horrible. I think Prince and MJ have the best half times overall.

At the risk of sounding sexist, I am tired of female pop acts altogether, all of them. I'm a female and I'm sick of seeing this lame pop tarts dominate all of the award shows, etc. Enough already. I'm ready for more male acts to take over. Bruno Mars is a step in the right direction as far as I'm concerned.

No offence to Madge, Bruno Mars and Katy Perry by why do they keep picking music acts that, on the whole, football fans have no interest in....?

It's not like NFL is looking for a quality act to deliver the halftime show... NFL just wants to play it safe, pick someone like Katy Perry to sing famous songs, therefore bring people to tune in and just check it out...

It's all about the rating, true that Katy isn't Janelle Monae or Beyoncé performing wise, and she ain't no Jennifer Hudson when it comes to singing, she's just famous, and SAFE.

Btw, no one will ever top Bruno Mars' drum opening, I believe that's the best halftime show opening in history (Tied with MJ's... I know MJs is iconic and all, it's just that Bruno made the whole world think "Wow!! He can play drums!!!", the whole set was electrifying, just looking at him killin' it.. It was sick)

biggrin But they are not popular enough to be considered a "household name", which is what the NFL wants.

.

All I want to know is this: will Katy be paying the NFL, or not? I wonder if Madge or other recent acts knew the NFL was contemplating making the artist pay to play.

As someone who has never seen Prince's Halftime performance, can someone tell me where I can watch it? It's nowhere to be found on YouTube and Google isn't really giving me results either.

If R Kelly can be forgiven. Then Janet can be forgiven for popping a boobie out...Which was blown totally out of proportion..

Yeah it does seem that she's due to have her own superbowl performance, as it should have been the first time around anyway.

The NFL owes Janet Jackson nothing. She blew it. Any shit she got
from that performance was her own doing. Don't blame the NFL for
her stupidity.

At least make it fair and ban Timberlake as well. It's not like Janet was on that stage alone. It's been over 10 years though, people need to get over something that happened over a decade ago and really wasn't that big a deal in the first place.

Playing the Superbowl Halftime is pretty much a once-in-a-career opportunity. Even if the artist puts on a flawless, great show. So if the show is a disaster (i.e., Janet's), why would you expect that artist to receive another invitation?

Before the mid 1990s, acts appeared on several Superbowls like Carol Channing & Up With People. More recently Nelly was on 2 halftime shows.
