Great news. This and the huge Marvin Gaye and Supremes box sets will make a very Motown-autumn. Now I'm waiting for a true Smokey box set, including his tunes and the many he has given to others. He deserves it.

There has been no official announcement, but it appears that the TV special Motown 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever may be coming to DVD.

Been a long time since I saw this - didn't Boy George and George Michael perform a Smokey Robinson song?

As much as I dig that tune as well, this has got to be my favorite Mary tune written by Smokey

Smokey deserves a box set like that, something similar to the Nile Rodgers boxes that are being released. There's a box set of Smokey and The Miracles with a couple of solo tracks, but the one I have in mind would include both his work with The Miracles and his solo work and the many compositions recorded by other artists. That would really underline how awesome a composer he is. People mainly talk about what a wonderful voice he has, or how great a lyricist he is, but he was a brilliant soul-pop composer, among the very best (to me, only Stevie would be a bit ahead...). Who knows? Maybe if his September duets album sells well, Universal would think about it...

I haven't seen this show since it originally aired on TV! I can't wait for the DVD set! "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

This is certainly a collector's item but I would feel a little eerie knowing majority people performing are no longer with us.

MJ alone being gone is eerie enough. It was surreal when I watched it on VHS after his death. [Edited 7/27/14 8:26am] [Edited 7/27/14 8:26am] Editing on a tablet is a motha [Edited 7/27/14 8:27am] Don't laugh at my funk

Only downfall of the show was that Mary Wells was on for a split second

Just think he didn't want to do it unless he was able to perform his own song Berry Gordy practically had to beg him to come. I don't remember all of the performances except Michael but I think it's an insult that Marvin Gaye just performed one song.
