What's your favorite song that's not in English? I'm a huge Marc Anthony fan and love his music in English and Spanish. It made me wonder how many of you have favorite songs in other languages besides English. Post them below. I'll start with one of mine here. It's a remake of an older version by Hector Lavoe:

Thanks, Cinny! I'll check out the video you posted. Here's a bonus video of Marc Anthony. It's an older song but fantastic from start to finish!

“It means finding the very human narrative of a man navigating between idealism and pragmatism, faith and politics, non- violence, the pitfalls of acclaim as the perils of rejection” - Lesley Hazleton on the first Muslim, the prophet.

. Favourite song in my native language Dutch, 'Vlieg Met Me Mee (Het Avontuur)' (Fly Away With Me [Adventure]) by singer Trijntje Oosterhuis: . . As for a language that's neither my native one or English, I'm partial to Kate Ryan's rendition of Mylène Farmer's 'Désenchantée': . . I don't want your rhythm without your rhyme

This is just one of them...the EMOTION of this song gets me every time! He sings this to a woman that won't have him and "the difference", in his mind, is in their hearts, because if he were in her shoes, he would love her deeply. So emotional.
[Edited 7/24/14 17:36pm] Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

I listen to a lot of music in Maori, the language of New Zealand Polynesians. One of my favourite singers is Prince Tui Teka (1937 - 1985) a larger than life musician, composer and comedian. He performed mainly in English many country and wetsern and old R and B songs, but also did a lot of Maori action and love songs. One of his most famous was "E I po" (I am sad) dedicated to his wife Missy. He also did a version of the Bridge (A song by another Maori artist Deane Waretini) which features Il Silencio and Maori chants. It was dedicated to the Maori Battalion soldiers who fought and died in World War 2. . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sd3L7A4CE5g
. There are a lot of nice songs in Maori, both modern and old and one of the modern ones was the hit "Poi E" which set a Maori Poi (Womans action song with balls on strings) song (Waiata in Maori) to a modern beat and even a breakdancing sequence (It was 1984) and it was huge here. Performed by the Patea Maori Club, it helped the town of Patea after the freezing works that employed most of the people closed down. . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQLUygS0IAQ . Another vital act is Herbs, who were known for their Maori reggae music. Again like most Maori groups, they were bilingual, some songs came in English, others Maori and many were bilingual. Big hits of theirs include, Long Ago, Nuclear Waste (Is a coming down), French letter and Sensitive to a smile, a song for peace after a series of Riots in the town of Ruatoria in 1987, believed to have been caused by a group of frustrated Maori Rastafarians. . Either way, the Maori people have a rich musical legacy, one of which I am proud of, the language is beautiful and the music is full of melodies and love. Yeah I discovered them by accident. I was browsing through used CD's at a record store in the 90's and I saw that they were on 4AD and it was from 84 (it was the album Tocsin) and I'm thinking to myself 4AD.. the 80's.. how could I go wrong. So I bought it, and fell in love. Its a shame Anja is more well known. Change it one more time..

Wow, this is a really powerful video. I was watching TV today and saw a program that ripped apart a celebrity who posted on Twitter to Pray for Gaza. She didn't say which side she was on, she simply tweeted pray for peace. Well, the talking heads went after this celebrity like she did something wrong. One thing about a song like this is that you can hear the pain of the people experiencing it, instead of someone just copying it to make themselves sound cool. Thanks for posting it. Trolls be gone!
