Neil Diamond - The Jazz Singer I love this film! Maybe i'm one of few though, as I understand it was panned back when it came out. But love the sound track too. The songs are so heartfelt. Anyone like this album? I'm finally thinking if getting it. I love, Love on the rocks, America, You Baby, Amazed and confused. Love them all. Any fans here of the D man??

I finally saw a few bits and pieces of this movie just last week for the first time ever. It was very entertaining, but it was late and I never saw the ending but yes, I love Neil Diamond My favorite is "Crackling Rosie"

Neil wrote a few of the earlier Monkees songs, including what is probably their most known one I'm A Believer. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Growing up - my dad had this one station wagon where I swear the only 8 track he owned was a "hot august night" from Neil Diamond ....
great live songs ...
so later when this movie came out ... i was a fan (of the album ) so i saw it ... the movie is kinda lame but still some of the songs resonate ... Colonel Angus may be smelly. colonel angus may be a little rough . but deep down ... Colonel angus is very sweet.

^^That wasn't a Neil song, Mike Nesmith wrote Mary Mary, and it's been sampled a few times on rap songs. Yes I know that Mike was supposedly the only one in the group that was actually a real musician I remember when RUN DMC sampled it I forget which song it was on but it went like this "Mary Mary why you buggin?"

Peter plays several instruments including banjo, Micky was in a few bands before The Monkees as a singer and played a little guitar and Davy was a Broadway singer. Davy had an album out before the group and Mike had a few singles as Michael Blessing. Peter was in a group with Stephen Stills, later with Buffalo Springfield and Crosby Stills Nash & Young. Peter also performed as a folk singer in clubs/coffeehouses beforehand. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. Nice to see other peeps here giving ND some love. I plan to finally download the album today! I noticed on Itunes he's got a new album dropping next month. Great to see he's still recording. Didn't he headline a festival a few years back in the UK (can't remember which one) and I heard he got great reviews. Really brought the house down!
