lauryn hill .... Sigh

http://m.tmz.com/#Article...e-of-blues

If you look up the definition of "irony" ... you'll find this video of Lauryn Hill, who had the nerve to snap at a fan for being disrespectful -- despite the fact SHE was severely late for her own show.

Hill played the House of Blues in Chicago last week, and our HOB sources tells us she was supposed to start playing at 10:30 -- but took her sweet time, and didn't actually make it to the stage until 11:20.

Once she did, most accounts say Lauryn's opening song performance was terrible, and when a fan called her out and flipped her off ... she berated him and had him tossed by security.

The person who shot this video tells TMZ they decided to leave after 2 more songs (which they called "rushed and sloppy") ... and say they saw a huge line of people at the box office asking for a refund
.

It's like rain on your wedding day.

"Repercussions"

I was born into this world
Little bitty baby girl
And when I look at why looking so glad
In a racist world
Now it’s a difficult process
The matter is of perception
When I look in the mirror what do I see
Is it my reflection?

[CHORUS:]
Seein' repercussions (talkin bout the things we do)
Ya need to know the repercussions (things can come right back to you)
Look at them repercussions (what goes around comes around)
Hey repercussions

See I was born into this
In another space in time
Time has moved on a death has grown closer
Surely has blown my mind (blown my mind)
Ain’t that a bitch...the way the world spins around (spins around spins around spins around)
Everything everything everything that I said and I did
Surely came back around

[CHORUS:]
See repercussions (talkin bout the things we do)
Repercussions (things sure can come back to you)
Yeah repercussions (what goes around comes around)
Yeah repercussions (they will get you down)

Repercussions (talkin bout the things we do)
Yeah Repercussions (things sure can come back to you)
Ya need to know that repercussions (what goes around comes around)
Repercussions (they will get you down)

Lauryn Hill's tardiness to her shows is part of the shtick. Its her U2 is in the giant lemon! moment. Anyone who's been to a Lauryn show since she came "back" (circa 06) knows to not be on time. Read a fucking article, TMZ. I love TMZ because its great "reality internet".

.

Same with the "rushed/sloppy" usual subjective feedback, she doesn't perform her album tracks as your CD or MP3 plays. She has a really talented band and has rearranged basically everything about each classic song in pretty clever, innovative ways. The show is hit after hit redone. Do people forget L tried her had at production somewhat successfully? "A Rose Is Still A Rose" "The Best of You" she knows a good arrangement yet enjoys the avant garde/experimental. Its crazy that Badu does the same to most of her classics and folks glorify her live shows.

.

If they wanted Miseducation they should've just played the CD. Its 2014. Its a shame that big media is done with her so they just shit on her whenever its a slow news day. She's been touring non-stop.

That's no excuse. If I am paying for a peformance from an artist, I expect them to bring their A-game. The problem with Lauryn Hill is no one has held her accountable and called her on the carpet for her actions. She has this holier-than-thou attitude about herself and all this "Miss Lauryn Hill" crap is for the birds! This is also the same person who released an album in which she tried to take credit for all the writing and producing when it actuality it was 4-5 other people helping her out! The media has done nothing to Lauryn that Lauryn Hill has not already done to herself. She brought this madness upon herself and no one else to blame for her behavior. It's like when she went down for not paying her taxes and came out with this ridiculous mumbo-jumbo that she wasn't a part of this society and all that nonsense but yet tours where she pockets crazy dollars. Message to Lauryn Hill: Have several seats and get your life ALL THE WAY together, boo-boo!

She was late starting her show - no big deal.

I've never been to a concert that started on time.

A spectator was heckling her and she had him

thrown out - again no big deal.

Hecklers should be thrown out.

Consider the source.

TMZ is just enjoying dogging her. confused

As usual Lauryn fans defend everything she does lol . I love lauryn... but she is just a sloppy performer nowadays. I've had friends who went to her show and were bored to death. I've seen live video too...

The band doesn't just ''re-arrange'' the songs. They sound shitty doing it! one performance the saxophones were out of tune, as well as the guitar eek it just sounded like utter shit. Her voice also is not up to par with what it once was. She can barely even hit high notes anymore confused

Why wouldn't be angry at that? she's late, her band sucks, and she can't sing very well anymore. People still believe this mumbo jumbo that it's all media trying to hurt poor Lauryn.

Your band sucks, pay your fucking taxes like we all do, and quit falling in love with married men.

I was under the impression that "Ms. Lauryn Hill" and the heavy, borderline unrecognizable re-versions were her way of getting hers without Sony/Columbia/Ruffhouse/anyone getting theirs from the road show. Pretty sure the Ms. is her love symbol.

.

And the live show is kick ass. When did she ever hit high notes?... Team Lauryn all day, ery day.

Maybe if her word-of-mouth reputation wasn't so bad, she could play bigger venues than the House of Blues.

Wrong.

Lauryn and I have the same manager, a former RuffHouse exec who has been working with her on and off since before The Score came out. Lauryn has no issue with any of those people, in fact she's brought several in as consultants in the last few years. Besides that, reworking songs live wouldn't make any difference as to what the label makes from the shows. They're not making any cut from them regardless. It's only in the last few years that labels starting trying to get a cut from live shows, it was not commonplace before that and Lauryn's contract predates that.

I'm still mad that people defended her when she didn't pay taxes. That just proves her fams will agree to anything she does. I'm 23 and pay my taxes on time! it sucks... but it's part of being a mother fucking adult. She's a few years younger than my mom and just ''decides'' not to pay taxes. Same way she told people working on her 2nd album ''God will repay you'' instead of actually giving them money. What a fucking joke lol

Our manager had commented on it to me a few years back, but I don't believe she'd explained it to him either. It was just kinda like, "Oh, she's going by Ms. Lauryn Hill as her name now, that's just how she wants to be referred to now."

I can't really say certain things on a public forum but she can be difficult to deal with and prior to the tax thing, I do know there were several projected release dates for new material and plans put in place for touring that new material and then for one reason or another these plans would always fall through to the point where it got difficult to try and negotiate business deals on her behalf because the trust had been lost.

In her defence, she's been through a lot, and I actually think she holds it together quite well given some of the things she has been through. And there's an immense amount of pressure that artists who have sold that many records feel. If you look at pretty much anyone that sold 15-20million+ records, there's a fallout, whether it's MJ, Eminem, whoever. And between The Score and Miseducation, you're looking at some 30 million album sales in the space of 5 years. Maybe more.

I saw a concert of hers a few months back that was just really not good at all. I appreciate redoing and rearranging songs live. Tricky does this a lot but he does it well. He improves on his recorded songs. The combination of her sloppy ass band and the schizophrenic sound of her arrangements just turn me off completely. I dunno.. I actually I might appreciate some of the new arrangements recorded (I'd have to be in the mood for it), but live it falls flat (to me) big time.

Change it one more time..

You touched on what I've always felt about her. I think that pressure turns into fear eventually. She's scared. She may be simply afraid of failure. Between the near universal panning of her last release, "Unplugged" (I liked it btw), the elapsed time, personal trauma, who knows what else...it has paralyzed her from pulling the trigger on a release. That's just how I see it.

Most folks deal with issues/problems one time or other in their lives. If most people were honest, many times they stumble because they can't get out of their own way. In my humble opinion, artist and/or musician aren't dealing with anymore or less pressure than most of humanity. Most folks in this world are living lives with their backs against the wall.

The bottom line: I don't care what you do for a living, it requires a high degree of professionalism. Period.

When folks purchase tickets for a concert the cost and time of the concert is on the ticket. The performers should be there on time and ready to perform... half-assed attempts or going through the motions are a no-no. If Ms. Hill isn't feeling it, maybe she should pursue another line of work.

Ummm what has Lauryn Hill ever done to achieve this diva attitude about herself? So what, she's won Grammy awards, I still don't see how she feels so entitled. It's not like she's done anything innovative in the music industry. Oh well, I ain't checkin' for her anyway so I won't be losing any money, nor sleep over anything she does.
