of ALL the new releases ..how many r actually released on vinyl?

I don't know what the ratio is, but there's several record stores where I live that sells new release vinyl. One has a fairly big selection including a few 45s. The 45's are $7-$10. There's more CDs in the store though, unless you count the used records.

I have noticed that vinyl is usually not available the same day as the CD.

I think they only do a vinyl edition for best selling albums, or based on first week sales or something. Because they don't usually show up on vinyl until quietly a month or two later.


I did notice these two album available on vinyl the same week as the CD:

• Daft Punk Random Access Memories
• Nas Illmatic XX (20th anniversary)

You will find a lot of new releases on vinyl at your friendly neighborhood indie store. If they don't have it they'll order it for you. Or you could go the online route.

No, but like I said, a lot of new releases, particularly from indie artists, dance/electronica artists, and hip-hop artists are available in vinyl formats. Some that are not available in domestic releases maybe available as "imports" from other countries (Japan, etc.)
