How did this happen? The Challenge for the Worst Album of All Time

Break out the Haterade and let's get ready to rumble. Cast your ballot and we'll see who wins on May 15th. Fifteen days to post the most awful, most absurd, most ridiculously bad albums of all time.

(Thanks to Mariah Carey, Nick Carter, & Jordan Knight for the inspiration, we'll see ya soon guys)

My first nominee:

HOW DID THIS HAPPEN? I felt bad for Stevie Wonder, Macy Gray, and myself as I tried to get through this with a straight face. What an embarassment.

Second:

This one is easily explained but still unforgiveable.

Third:

I can still vividly remember the faces of shoppers at Borders Books & Music when we would play this one. The colored covers. Fats. The Chris Tucker/MJ banter. Sure there are a few keepers but FLOP. Makes Blood On The Dancefloor almost sound tolerable. I still don't get why "Darkchild" gets any respect.

Bring on the challengers!

Invincible is an underrated classic.

As far as bad albums go, I was getting a haircut a few months ago and a Justin Bieber album was playing. It was really terrible.

The last EP by Bruce Springsteen is arguably the worst thing ever to be released on any platform of media such as music, film or literature.

Every thing Justin Bieber releases ranks among the most unauthentic, unoriginal, bitter recordings to ever be recorded in a studio. His Believe album, at best, is a strong contender for the "Worst Album of All Time" title.

Every thing David Guetta records, sings, mixes or releases is fairly enough a bad material that makes the worst of the worst feel proud.

Every thing Jennifer Lopez does is just the perfect example of what a bad song/album is.. She is without any doubt the worst recording artist to ever walk God's green earth, many wonder what those label headmasters thunk of the day they signed J LO... is it her ass?

PRISM by Katy Perry is an honorable mention, if it wasn't for Unconditionally it would've been THE worst thing to ever be out in the market, any market of any medium, in the last 25 years.

That's the Bieber album I heard whilst getting a haircut! I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt, having not heard much of his music before, but it really was terrible. Shockingly bad.

And yeah, I was hugely disappointed with PRISM as well. Because I love the Teenage Dream record, I think it's damn near flawless. And I liked about 2 songs on PRISM on first listen, and haven't listened to it since.

Out of the zillion albums released over the last 60 years u couldn't think of anything worse than those 3 albums????? I mean, SERIOUSLY? It's not even because I like the 3 of 'em (and I do) but hell, I could think of hundreds of worst records: HUNDREDS.

Like, IDK, for example this: https://www.youtube.com/w...GxMxLJnsVw

Or as pointed out above, anything released by the likes of Justin Bieber, J-Lo and their equivalents from the 50's to now, all that prefabricated junk!

I mean just turn on the radio or watch MTV for one hour and u'll hear 15 songs that r worse than anything on the 3 albums u mentionned.

So what's ur point?

I still think "The Emancipation of Mimi" and "E=MC2" are worse than "Glitter." Creed and Nickelback could be on this list.

Acclaimed Music Top 100 Albums Project: Album #95

What Back in Black purportedly attempts to be is a raucous celebration of debauchery. What it sounds like is a monochrome, brainless drunken cesspool. Of all of the albums I have yet encountered in my lifetime, Back in Black doesn't merely scrape the bottom of the barrel - it defines it.

In theory, I could be a fan of AC/DC. I was quite the fan of hair metal as a child and I still enjoy some Mötley Crüe albums for their cheap, catchy thrills. However, Back in Black just isn't fun. The album opens in merely irritating fashion with "Hells Bells", but what would act as an obnoxious low point of just about any other hard rock album I've heard actually serves as the "highlight" of this monstrosity. From there, it trawls the bloated gut of mind-numbing stupidity with an endless litany of cliches, macho chest-pounding and sleazy come-ons without the decency of any flirtation. It truly is a bottom feeder. On top of that, Brian Johnson's disemboweled gravel-mouthed midget shrieking has to rank among the worst vocal performances I have ever heard, and I say that as a fan of a number of vocalists who actively defy staying in tune, such as Malcolm Mooney.

Obviously, I'm in the minority with this opinion given the album's critical reputation and commercial success. There hence must be a place for Back in Black, but it is a place from which I would like to keep a healthy distance of at least a few time zones. Unfortunately, the tragic ubiquity of "You Shook Me All Night Long" and the title track makes this an impossible quest, but a guy can dream, can't he?

Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Let'a celebrate his legacy by counting down the most beloved Prince albums, as decided by you!

I've seen all of those. So you're saying Do It Roger by Roger Troutman is a bad record?

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Jimmy had a Latimore record on 'Do Not Play' too, but he had Latimore sit in with The Roots the other day. Some of those records I don't think he really dislikes. It looks to me that he usually has records that appear on 'bad album cover' lists. Some of them are out of print and/or has never been on CD, so you can't buy them anyway. lol

I saw that too. I remember having seen the latimore record bit too.

Some, I prolly agree. They aren't as bad as portrayed...but many are just as terrible as they could be.

.

Additionally, Mariah's albums pre-'Butterfly' are solid gold, Tommy Mottola's meddling aside. And I'm saying this as someone who quite likes 'Butterfly' in the first place.
