Songwriters about family Hi there! --- I'm interested in knowing which musicians have written more about family. Of course, I don't mean love relationships, but parents, sons... family in general. I can think of two: Ray Davies and Smokey Robinson (he started in his solo albums after The Miracles). Any more clues?

Okay, for real. Quite a few songwriters were inspired by their children: Kate Bush: Bertie on her Aerial CD. Bob Dylan's Forever Young. Better?

I feel better now... But not enough... You know, I am curious to know if family has been a significant subject in the work of some songwriter... I can think of several individual songs: John Lennon's "Mother", Cat Stevens' "Father And Son"... But not to the point of saying: "Family was an important subject for this songwriter, s/he spoke about it in several records, or in a concrete period of his/her career... I mentioned Ray Davies and Smokey Robinson because that's the case with them, but there'll be probably more...

Not sure if this is literally about a brother, but...
Another brother song from Steve Vai
Oh, and why not another?

Micky, two questions. Who is the "you" in "I Wanna Be Where You Are"? I know the song, but don't remember the lyrics well, I don't even know if it's clear in the lyrics. ----- And what's that song with the very funny title "You're The Reason Our Kids Are Ugly"?

Anyone here is a fan of Paul Simon? I think he might qualify for this thread, but I don't know his music well enough.
