The first time I heard this song I noticed how much she sounds like Xtina, so it makes perfect sense to me that she was featured on it.

I find their voices to be too similar to work on a collabo. It's hard to tell them apart at times which makes the whole thing feel quite unnecessary.

Exactly. It's too late to salvage ArtFlop. * * *

Well, she started promoting ArtPop in summer 2012, so it is probably hard for her to just abandon it already, and probably a little early! I am sure if they made her keep working on it, then they have some future single ideas from the released album (that aren't remixes).

Didn't she fire a slew of people (I hear 150+ though that sounds excessive) during the Artpop creation? But notable firings by her were her manager and creative director.

She fired her manager days before the album's release. Not a good sign. The album has no singles, and it's weak, weak, weak. And i'm a fan of hers. She needs to just get back to making good pop songs and stop focusing so much on the circus she's created around her. * * *

I only now found out about them performing together on The Voice (I'm not from the U.S., so I've been more occupied with our local version of The Voice), but that live performance was pretty neat. . Can't speak much about ArtPop, I took a cursory listen at a couple of tracks a while back, and the singles didn't take much time to grow on me, but I haven't felt the urge to purchase it yet. . Back to Gaga and Aguilera collaborating... am I the only one to whom that was a complete surprise? I seem to recall that, some years back, Aguilera made a snide comment about Gaga, after which she proceeded to release 'Bionic' which featured elements of obvious emulation of Gaga's style. . I'm a fan of Aguilera. But at the time 'The Fame' first came out, I was a big Gaga supporter, and thought it was unnecessary for Aguilera to take jabs at the new girl on the block. I'm glad that they seem to have left all that behind. Yes, there is a certain similarity in their voices, but I think that helps them drop an excellent duet, which is what this version of 'Do What U Want' is. James Ingram and Michael MacDonald also have similar sounding voices, and they made 'Yah Mo B There' work. . Aguilera and Gaga are among the top singers I mention whenever someone comes along with the old 'there's only uninspired, fabricated, autotuned crap on the music charts these days'. . . I don't want your rhythm without your rhyme

I love this version as much as the R Kelly original duet. It's a dope song. The album as a whole is slamming, so why it gets so much hate is a mystery to me. "Get up off that grey line"

It's one of the most disappointing cuts from the album. Despite his much touted reputation as a horn dog, R. Kelly failed to add sexual tension to the original recording, boring listeners to death with references to being up in da club (again), living a life of luxury, etc. This is a merely passable remake.

I don't believe that to be true.
She has plenty of single choices to work with to keep the album going in 2014.
Gypsy, Fashion, & Artpop being the strongest IMO.
Applause has sold 2 million. Do What You Want has sold 1 million (and will likely also reach 2 million if it sustains its momentum).
And her album has sold over 600k in the USA thus far and could be in next week's Top 10 based on sales projections.
Not to mention her tour ticket sales (where the real money is made) have been stellar.
People need to cut the girl some slack. [Edited 1/3/14 8:34am]

I'm not really a fan, but I have to say this doesn't sound much better or worse than her previous albums. And Aura will actually make my year-end mix.

To me "Gypsie" makes it clear that she just needs to fully embrace her inner Bruce Springstein and leave the Madonna shtick alone.

During her earlier underground days, Gaga copied Christina's Dirrty-era style first and Christina wasn't happy about it at the time. Of course that was the same Christina that would copied Gaga's EDM sounds a few years later.

Really Gaga? C'mon, "Artpop" is weak! Didn't you fire your two key creative people in your circle? Did they possibly disagree with the direction the "Artpop" project was going? I say do the "ArtRave" tour but don't go overboard and make this sh!t count! Then rest up for about six months then get back to work. If you can write a real song then write them, and if you can't hire someone to do it for you, like EVERYONE else in the business does. And if you have to steal from Madonna then please pick a universal theme and stick with it throughout the remainder of the project. The "Artpop" thing has been lumbering around for a couple months now and I STILL don't know what it all means and can barely remember besides. I'm not doing anything too exciting Gaga. Do you want me the manage your next project? > Lady Gaga Vents About Her Inner Circle's Betrayal'I never thought that those I called friends and partners would ever care so little at a time I needed them the most'January 6, 2014 10:10 AM ET

Lady Gaga attacked unnamed associates who she said were once close friends in a post on her LittleMonsters website Sunday night. In the missive, titled "DWUW Video" – referring to "Do What U Want," the seemingly long-delayed, Terry Richardson-directed clip for her duet with R. Kelly – she griped about the lack of planning that went into the vid, which afforded her only a week to work on it. "Those who have betrayed me gravely mismanaged my time and health and left me on my own to damage control any problems that ensued as a result," she wrote. "Millions of dollars are not enough for some people. They want billions. Then they need trillions. I was not enough for some people. They wanted more." Midway through the post, Gaga made it clear that her ire was not directed at her record label. Instead, she lashed her tongue at people in her inner circle who she felt abandoned her during times of need and did not support her during the making of her latest record, Artpop. She also hinted that she has severed ties with the anonymous people she believed betrayed her. "Unfortunately after my surgery I was too sick, too tired, and too sad to control the damage on my own," she wrote, referring to the hip surgery she underwent last year that sidelined her from touring. "My label was not aware that this was going on. The next few months of Artpop will truly be its beginning. Because those who did not care about Artpop's success are now gone, and the dreams I have been planning can now come to fruition. Please forgive me that I did not foresee this coming, I never thought after all the years of hard work that those I called friends and partners would ever care so little at a time I needed them the most." She ended the diatribe by repeating her request for clemency from her fans. "Forgive me, monsters," she wrote. "Forgive me, Artpop." Although it is unclear exactly at whom Gaga's wrath is directed, the singer split from longtime manager Troy Carter over "creative differences" in November. Gaga will be supporting Artpop on the road later this year on a tour she has dubbed "ArtRave: The Artpop Ball." The tour begins in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in May and ends in Los Angeles in June.

It is pretty insane how this song failed to become a big hit and that she could not release a video for it. Who woulda thunk this would happen some 4 years ago?

I thought these two hated each other...

On Christina's part, she can't get a top 10 hit on her own anymore. Since Gaga's been out she's been there only on someone else's song as a featured artist (Maroon 5, A Great Big World, Pitbulll). She's pretty much a glorified backup singer/hook girl now. As for Gaga, Artpop hasn't been quite the smash hit The Fame/ The Fame Monster had been, and the lead single Applause feels kind of underwhelming. Plus the shakeup behind Haus of Gaga. So no wonder the two have decided to put the past behind them. [Edited 3/1/14 8:36am]

Her new video is supposed to have The Real Housewives of ATL. in it. I was hoping DWUW would get a proper video release (she made one with R. Kelly, but I guess she decided not to put it out), but I'm hoping that the new single will be ManiCure. "Get up off that grey line"

Hmmm with the Real Housewives of Atlanta involved I'm thinking possibly "Fashion"?

Oh yeah, I had alreadt forgotten that Lady Gaga released a new album just a while ago. I haven't seen her much anywhere since.
