Bruno Mars to perform at Brad Pitt's Make It Right gala May 17 in New OrleansBruno Mars is the featured entertainer for Brad Pitt’s Make It Right fundraising gala on May 17, 2014, at the Sugar Mill on Convention Center Boulevard, organizers have announced. Mars will return to New Orleans three weeks later for a sold-out show at the Smoothie King Center. Tickets for his Smoothie King Center show, though only available on the resale market, are the more affordable of the two. According to the Make It Right website, gala tickets at the $1,000 level already are sold out. Only $2,500 individual tickets — good for a VIP reception, the gala dinner and the after-party featuring Mars — are still available, along with full tables and corporate sponsorships. Founded in 2007, the Make It Right foundation has built 100 environmentally friendly homes, designed by some of the world’s top architects, in the Lower 9th Ward. Though best known for its efforts in post-Katrina New Orleans, Make It Right is also involved in other projects, including an apartment building for disabled vets in Newark, N.J., a community development in Kansas City, Mo., and homes for Native Americans on the Fort Peck Reservation. The Foundation’s sold-out 2012 fundraising...ew Orleans was a star-studded affair, featuring Pitt, Ellen DeGeneres, Drew Brees, Rihanna, Sheryl Crow, Kanye West, Aziz Ansari, Seal, Snoop Dogg, and local favorites the Soul Rebels. That event raised $4 million for the construction of 20 homes, the organization said. Mars, still riding high from his well-received showcase as the halftime performer at this year’s Super Bowl, is among the hottest names in pop at the moment. "We're thrilled to welcome Bruno to New Orleans and thankful to him for supporting Make It Right's work," Tom Darden, Make It Right's executive director, said in a statement. "We're looking forward to a phenomenal evening and hope to see all our friends at this exciting and inspiring event." Additional artists for the 2014 gala are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

Bruno Mars donates $100,000 to Yolanda survivors By Janine Villagracia MANILA, Philippines – Filipino-American Grammy Award-winning singer Bruno Mars donated a total of $100,000 to Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) victims Friday. In a press conference held at the Eclipse Lounge of the Solaire Resort and Casino, the “Just the Way You Are” star officially handed over his aid to a local charity foundation that he started supporting in 2011. According to the foundation, the sum that Mars donated will be dedicated to giving medical assistance to children who have been affected by Yolanda. Part of the proceeds will be used to fund feeding programs, scholarships, and stress debriefing programs for kids that have been greatly affected by the calamity. The foundation is also looking into enrolling these children in disaster preparedness workshops so they could learn basic survival tips during the onslaught of a natural disaster. Mars who first visited the children under the care of his supported foundation in April 8, 2011 is set to perform at the Mall of Asia Arena tomorrow, March 22. He will be treating his fans to some of his greatest hits and also to tracks of his latest album, the Unorthodox Jukebox.

Also at the event were Bantay Bata board member and ABS-CBN Head for Integrated News and Current Affairs Ging Reyes and program director Dr. Luisa Puyat. Mars, who first visited the children of the foundation in April 2011, explained that his last visit to the country was "life-changing," which is why he decided to help out this time around. "I'm really happy to be back. Last time I was here, it changed my life. Mabuhay, maraming salamat," the 28-year-old singer said. Mars, best known for the hits "Just the Way You Are" and "Marry You," is scheduled to perform at a sold-out concert at the SM Mall of Asia Arena on Saturday (March 22) as part of his "Moonshine Jungle" tour. Bruno Mars’s pre-concert party: Minute to win itBy Luigene Yanoria | Yahoo Southeast Asia Newsroom – Sat, Mar 22, 2014 7:24 AM PHTBruno Mars's short but sweet appearance at his own pre-concert party was a solid minute of the partygoers' time at Manila's high-end superclub. The two-time Grammy-winning singer/songwriter/producer hijacked the DJ's deck on the eve of his second sellout concert in Manila --only to sing at least a quarter of his hit single "Locked Out of Heaven.”
The global artist of Filipino descent effortlessly pleased the crowd at Republiq who waited for more than three hours for his turn to take the party scene over. And it wasn't your ordinary crowd. They included the winners of Viber’s pre-concert party promo, with celebrities in the house including Sam Pinto, Phoemela Baranda and JM Rodriguez, as well as executives of the night's sponsors. That's not to say Bruno just did a quickie at the club. In fact, he was inside with the jampacked area for more than an hour (he left at 2:15 a.m.), and just stayed there with his entourage, the same team that surrounded him upon his arrival to ensure his safety that night.
Insane ticket prices Let's just say that his "minute to win it" activity (though the event was promoted as pre-concert party hosted by him no less) was a primer for a much better music experience Saturday, March 22, at his concert at the Mall of Asia Arena. His Moonshine Jungle Tour concert marks Bruno's second appearance in Manila. He was here in 2011. And despite ticket price ranging from P2,000 to P16,000, Filipinos don’t seem to mind forking over insane amounts to watch a "kababayan”—albeit a certified hitmaker. And for that, Bruno is grateful. He had two words for his Pinoy fans at the party: "Mahal kita."
To the rafters. (Photo by Luigene Yanoria)

Bruno Mars locks fans in heaven By Janine Villagracia MANILA, Philippines – Fans of Filipino-American singer Bruno Mars were locked in what seems like a busy heaven when the 28-year-old singer dropped by a high-end club in Manila to celebrate The Moonshine Jungle Tour with his supporters Friday. The club was already packed as early as 10 p.m. but the energy of the crowd did not die down until past 1 a.m. when the much-awaited special guest of the night arrived. The moment The Hooligans frontman took over the floor, every single soul in the jam-packed party room screamed their cheers for the international star. Mars then rewarded his fans by singing a few lines from his “Unorthodox Jukebox” lead single “Locked Out Of Heaven.” Though he did not bring a full-blown performance to the party table, Mars still gave fans a reason to get wild as he stayed for over an hour in the club. Now everyone present in the March 21 Pre-Party of this much sough-after artist can proudly brag “I partied with Bruno Mars last night, man.” This well-attended concert Pre-Party was made possible by Viber and Music Management International in cooperation with LiveBase. Tickets to Mars’s The Moonshine Jungle Tour scheduled March 22 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena were already sold out as early as a few weeks before his concert.

Bruno Mars dines on scorpion kebabPosted: Saturday 22 March 2014
BRUNO MARS indulged in a bizarre delicacy during his trip to Thailand this week by munching on scorpion kebabs.
The Treasure hitmaker was in the country's capital Bangkok for a concert on his Moonshine Jungle tour on Thursday (20Mar14) when he decided to use a rare day off to explore the city. He took in a martial arts fight, went on a CD shopping trip at a bootleg market, and then topped off the day with a snack of toasted scorpion. However, the weird meal didn't go down too well with the singer and it left him nursing a stomach ache for the rest of the day. Mars posted a picture of the snack on Twitter.com on Friday (21Mar14), alongside the message, "Stomach felt a little weird after I ate this."

Review of the concert in Manila, Philippines (March 22, 2014) Bruno Mars roars in Manila leg of concert tour By Allan Policarpio MANILA, Philippines — American singer-songwriter Bruno Mars’ concert Saturday night at the SM Mall of Asia Arena only lasted a little over an hour, but it was nonetheless packed with numbers that prompted nonstop roars of approval and loud sing-alongs throughout. The 28-year-old music artist from Hawaii set the night’s tone with “Moonshine,” a mid-tempo disco-pop track from his sophomore album “Unorthodox Jukebox.” The show was part of his ongoing world tour “The Moonshine Jungle.” Backed steadily by his bouncy live band, The Hooligans, Mars sustained the energy with “Nathalie,” before urging his thousands of thrilled fans to put their camera phones for a while, and dance along to the funky beats of “Treasure.” Mars, Peter Gene Hernandez in real life, marched on with a medley of “Money (That’s What I Want),” “Billionaire” and “I Need a Dollar.” He then sampled Ghost Town DJ’s “My Boo,” Ginuwine’s “Pony” and R. Kelly’s “Ignition” in another mash-up. Deafening screams pierced through air when Mars sang “Marry You” and altered a few words of its lyrics: “Manila, I think I’m gonna marry you!” He slowed things down with “If I Knew” and “It Will Rain,” and then let crowd sing their hearts out in “The Lazy Song,” “Grenade” and “Just the Way You Are.” On “When I Was Your Man,” meanwhile, Mars said: “This was the hardest song for me to write and sing.” For his encore, Mars emerged onstage behind the drums and displayed his chops on the instrument in an exciting solo. All the while the huge screen behind him displayed the Philippine flag. He ended the concert—replete with laser lights, confetti and fireworks—with the hit “Gorilla.” “Thank you guys so much, you have no idea how much this means to me–performing right here, being a Filipino, and seeing my people,” Mars told the rapt crowd. “I promised you all before, and I promise you all again—we’ll be back very, very soon.” A day before the concert, Mars, who was born to a Filipino mother and Puerto Rican father, donated a check worth $100,000 to “Yolanda” survivors through a local charity foundation.

Not a review of last night's concert, but a nice write-up of the last time Bruno played in Manilla in 2011 Reliving the magic of MarsMANILA, Philippines – When Bruno Mars first performed in Manila in April 2011, it was the most packed I’ve ever seen the Araneta Coliseum during a concert. The venue was sold out but organizers released SRO tickets to meet the incredible demand. Not an inch of space was left unoccupied for the Grammy-winning performer. Back then, Bruno Mars had only released one full-length album, Doo-Wops and Hooligans, and collaborated on a few singles with different artists, yet his popularity was something else, especially here. No doubt it helped that he has Filipino blood (most everyone knows by now that his late mother, Bernadette Hernandez is from the Philippines) and that extra bit of information certainly helped up his star power in these parts. (READ: Bruno Mars' upcoming conc...forward to)
But above everything else, Bruno Mars is the consummate performer, and I discovered that during the show. I remember when he materialized onstage, wearing a casual plaid button-down shirt, red jeans and his trademark fedora, Mars ran towards the back to play a quick drum solo before launching into the opening song, “The Other Side,” off the EP It’s Better If You Don’t Understand. It became clear to me then that Mars’ outstanding vocals and quirky charm weren’t overinflated or overhyped. The man was a bundle of talent wrapped up in a likable, aw-shucks exterior. Mars sampled “Money (That’s What I Want)” before launching into one of his very first hits, “Billionaire” (sung with Travie McCoy in the recorded version). Known for his distinct, genre-defying sound, the singer displayed impressive vocal chops throughout the long set. He engaged the audience during short spiels, but not too much. After asking the crowd for permission to “go crazy for a few minutes,” he kept the momentum going with a surprising mash-up of the instantly recognizable guitar riff of Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” and Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean.” Creativity and a tip of the hat to the icons of our time – it was very hard not to like this guy. Mars performed almost all of the songs in his debut album Doowops and Hooligans, including “Liquor Store Blues” and “Grenade” (which he said at the time was his most favorite song he’s ever written), as well as an early hit with rapper B.O.B, “Nothin’ On You.” (READ: 7 Things to know about Bruno Mars)
Of course, he saved the best for last. Before launching into his massive hit “Just The Way You Are,” Mars thanked his Pinoy fans and with head held up high, told everyone, “I am very, very proud to be Filipino.” Considering how much we Filipinos love to claim anyone with even a drop of Filipino blood as our own, it was a sentiment that was met with the loudest applause of the evening. Expectedly, the entire coliseum turned into a giant karaoke room, with almost everyone there joining Mars for the finale. Tomorrow, Mars returns to perform in Manila. His stock has grown much, much more from three years ago, especially after his Grammy wins and his explosive performance at the last Super Bowl. I have no doubt that those watching are in for a wild ride. – Rappler.com MJ L.O.V.E: https://www.facebook.com/...689&type=2 / YOUTUBE: http://www.youtube.com/us...nderSilent

So Papa Mars is writing a book! Book by Bruno Mars' dad due to come out this yearPOSTED: 01:30 a.m. HST, Mar 23, 2014
Peter Hernandez Sr., father of Hawaii superstar Bruno Mars, is certain to ride a wave of his own fame when his book, "From Brooklyn to Mars," is published later this year. A catchy title, agree? Brooklyn is his hometown, and, of course, Mars is his Little Elvis son who is the hottest young star in the pop universe now. "The book will look at four generations of Peters in our family," said Hernandez, who was named after his father and whose grandfather's brother was a Peter, too. Bruno is Peter Jr. but uses a stage name. Login for more...

Bruno Mars: 'We'll be back very, very soon'MANILA, Philippines - Just as he did during his first visit in the Philippines in 2011, Bruno Mars promised to return to the country "very, very soon" as he culminates the Manila leg of his Moonshine Jungle concert tour held at the Mall of Asia Arena on Saturday, March 22.
"I promised you all before, and I promise you all again: we'll be back very, very soon," Bruno (real name Peter Gene Hernandez) said as he was about to sing his 2010 hit song "Just the Way You Are."
"Thank you guys so much, you have no idea how much this means to me. Performing right over here, being Filipino, seeing my people right here," Bruno, whose mother Bernadette Hernandez is of Filipino descent, tells the crowd of his standing-room-only concert.
It was obvious the 28-year-old singer was out to please his Filipino fans, peppering his spiels with references of his Filipino-American ancestry in his 16-song concert set.
Bruno began the concert by addressing the audience: "Manila, are ready?"
The concert saw the singer-songwriter perform songs from both his debut and sophomore albums, "Doo-Woops & Hooligans" and "Unorthodox Jukebox."
He started by singing "Moonshine," and followed through with "Natalie" and "Treasure."
In between performing his hits, Bruno also covered a number of older, lesser known hits. He mashed-up Travie McCoy's hit song "Billionaire" (which he co-wrote with McCoy) with the 1960s song "Money (That's What I Want)."
He also performed Soul for Real's "Candy Rain" and Ginuwine's "Pony," which was mashed-up with his song "Our First Time" from his "Doo-Woops & Hooligans" album, revealing the Motown and R&B influence of his music.
During his performance of "Marry You," he sang: "Hey Manila, I think I wanna marry you," much to the delight of the audience. Urging the crowd to sing with him, Bruno said: "Manila, I know we are known for singers."
"Some karaoke singers we have in the audience tonight," he quipped after the song.
He slows down with 'When I Was Your Man," one of his more successful songs from "Unorthodox Jukebox."
"It's still the hardest song for me to sing," Bruno describes the song.
Before his set's penultimate song, the 2012 hit "Locked Out of Heaven," he surprised the crowd by performing a drum solo with the Philippine flag flashing on the LED screen as his backdrop.
Bruno finished the concert off with "Gorilla."
The concert leaves off a number of hits from Bruno's discography. Bruno didn't perform "It Will Rain," which was featured in the movie "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1." He also didn't include his earlier hits from when he was more known as a music producer, particularly B.o.B's 2010 hit song "Nothing on You." The omissions made the concert a denser (the concert ran for a little more than an hour) experience, littered with Bruno's trademark showmanship and humor.
The Manila concert culminates Bruno's second visit in the Philippines. Last March 21, the "Grenade" singer attended a media gathering where he handed his US $100,000 donation to the youth victims of typhoon Yolanda. He also attended the Moonshine Jungle pre-concert party at the Republiq in Resorts World Manila.

Bruno Mars talks Grammies, songwriting and Elvis ahead of his Shanghai show
That’s how Bruno Mars responds when we congratulate him on the rapid escalation of his solo career, effectively only launched in 2010. The musician, who’s bringing his Moonshine Jungle Tour to Shanghai on April 3, doesn’t seem to care for compliments. Still, there’s something to be said for his resolve. In the span of four years, 28-year-old Mars has reached trailblazing achievements, becoming the go-to guy for hip-hop melody and, as of last year, earning the dubious honor of being the world’s most pirated artist together with Rihanna. Not that he should worry about that too much – he’s already got two platinum albums and 18 Grammy nominations (including two wins), and has sold 68 million singles worldwide. Three of them are counted amongst the best-selling singles of all time. The man is definitely doing something right. The son of a Puerto Rican-Jewish percussionist and a Filipino dancer, Mars (real name Peter Gene Hernandez) was born and raised in Hawaii. At age four he became part of his father’s variety show as a mini Elvis Presley impersonator. A few years later, he went on to cover Michael Jackson also. The training hugely influenced his formative years as a performer. “Kids around me were growing up watching Michael Jordan, Joe Montana or Mike Tyson,” he says. “I was studying rock stars – Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, James Brown, the Beatles. That world fascinated me the most.” Does he have a favorite tune from the two music legends that shaped his musical education? He ponders… “I’m going to go with ‘Dirty Diana’ for Michael and ‘Heartbreak Hotel’ from Elvis.” Learning a wide repertoire at a young age helped the singer become acquainted with the stage, and develop a versatility of style that’s been pivotal to his success both in the recording studio and live. His light, soul-influenced voice is an easy fit in a range of genres, his style quick to shift from fancy footwork routines to slow-paced ballads. There’s no place he doesn’t belong. After moving to Los Angeles to pursue a professional musical career, an early record deal with Motown went nowhere. The experience, however, proved fortuitous for the singer. Mars met songwriter Philip Lawrence, an encounter that eventually landed him a contract at Atlantic Records and got him his first break into the industry as a producer with the Smeezingtons, a production company he co-founded with Lawrence and fellow partner Ari Levine in 2009. The threesome has a firm grip on the full spectrum of black and white pop. Under the partnership, Mars has produced for Alicia Keys, Justin Bieber, Lil Wayne and Flo Rida, and penned chart-toppers such as CeeLo Green’s game changing ‘F - You’ and B.o.B’s ‘Nothin’ on You,’ as well as ‘Billionaire’ by Gym Class Heroes frontman Travie McCoy – a song that saw Mars taking center stage for the first time. Then there is a slew of hits from his own repertoire: ‘Just the Way You Are,’ ‘Grenade’ and, most recently, ‘Locked Out of Heaven.’ There’s no doubt that he can pen a tune. The process to get there, however, isn’t as chain-like as it may seem. “I don’t sit down and think, ‘I’m going to write a song,’” he says. “Inspiration hits me always unexpectedly: on a plane, when I’m out or just before I go to bed. An idea will suddenly come to my mind, and sometimes I manage to turn it into lyrics the next day. Sometimes it’ll take me one year to get something real out of it. You can’t force creativeness.” The Smeezingtons produced his debut album, Doo-Wops & Hooligans, back in 2010. An effortless example of pop song craft, it earned a nomination for album of the year in the US, winning generally positive reviews for what Entertainment Weekly described as “instant-access melodies” and “sly snatches of dance-floor swagger.” It also sold over six million copies worldwide, catapulting Mars into the upper echelons of pop. Two years later, Unorthodox Jukebox was released. This impeccably made and compulsively listenable sophomore effort – five million copies sold around the globe, and counting – features producers extraordinaire Mark Ronson and Jeff Bhasker among its collaborators. “Mark and Jeff are good friends,” says Mars. “They are good buddies of mine, but also my favorite producers out there today. I’m constantly going back and forth with them, thinking about the next step and what we can do together.” The album, thematically darker than the breezy Hooligans, offers more than clinically perfect song craft, and unsurprisingly, its lead single and number one hit, ‘Locked Out of Heaven,’ was nominated for Song and Record of the Year at the 2013 Grammys. On the wave of such success, Mars was asked to perform at this year’s Super Bowl Halftime Show, the most illustrious gig in pop – so much so, that no appearance fee is granted to the performers: payment comes in the form of exposure. It’s a slot that demands an established star with epic wattage. Last year it was Beyonce, the year before Madonna. In this respect, Mars might have looked like an odd choice. Electing to have him share the stage with guest performers the Red Hot Chili Peppers may have been even more unusual. But his performance paid off. The singer – who was also the first artist in ten years to headline before turning 30 – launched a kinetic entertainment assault that certainly left an impression – to some positive, to others rather too safe. The New York Times stated that Mars’ lack of tabloid appearances and fragrance deals kept him from being a household name. The Guardian criticized him for delivering “slick, unmemorable pop, ruffled only by his big, fratty brothers.” Mars sneers at his detractors. “The Super Bowl has really become this huge pop culture event for any artist to land, so it really was an honor to play there. At the same time, there’s a lot of pressure involved – of pleasing the audience, of playing in freezing cold weather. “There were a lot of factors that were working against us, but it turned out to be a lot of fun. It’s something I’ll carry with me forever, the opportunity to one day tell my kids that Dad performed at the Super Bowl.” As he prepares to hit China, he is “excited simply to be there. I haven’t spent much time in Asia – though growing up in Hawaii, I have always been surrounded by Asian culture, I relate to it – so I’m really going to be taking advantage of this opportunity. Then, of course, I’m keen to perform in front of an audience so very new to me.” Enjoying the present, he says, is all he wants to do right now. “I have been on tour for a while now, and I still have some more to go after Asia. It’s important that I don’t burn out. I have to keep my music sacred, so that when I’m ready, it’ll be ready too.” Planet Mars: The Facts Eight random bits of trivia about the ex-Elvis impersonator, fedora-wearing, Grammy award-winning singer.

Bruno Mars’ explosive ‘Moonshine’ concert
MANILA, Philippines – The final installment of this year's International Pyromusical Competition happened at the SM Mall of Asia last Saturday, but the fireworks weren't limited to the skies above the venue. Inside the MOA Arena, there were fireworks as well, and they were for the benefit of the man who organized the biggest concert party of the year thus far. Music superstar Bruno Mars came to Manila for the second time and, as expected, the show was every bit as explosive as the first, and with the addition of the pyrotechnics, perhaps even more so. The combined attendance of the fireworks show and the concert meant that traffic going to SM Mall of Asia was extra hellish that evening. I left Ortigas at 6:30 p.m. but got to the venue at past 9 pm. It didn't help that traffic was rerouted around the area, which meant I spent an extra 30 minutes going around the mall trying to look for parking. Thankfully, while the ticket said the show would start at 8, Bruno Mars himself appeared onstage at around 9:45. (READ: 7 Things to know about Bruno Mars) Moonshine Immediately, the part-Filipino artist launched into "Moonshine," from the Grammy-winning albumUnorthodox Jukebox. The wait may have been interminable, especially for those who were there much, much earlier, but audiences proved they didn't mind one bit. Instantly everyone was on their feet, dancing and screaming along, while the play of light and sound hit their eyes and ears. Bruno was dressed in a loose button-down shirt, a vest, pants and his trademark fedora. The stage was dominated by a gigantic video screen, while the drums and keyboards were on two separate platforms rising slightly above the stage. Everyone else – guitars, bass, horn section and backing vocals, as well as Bruno himself – made the rest of the stage their playground.
The Hooligans, Bruno's backing band, were as much a part of the show as the marquee act. It felt like a psychedelic party up onstage, with every member of the band (with the exception of the keyboardist and drummer), dancing in a series of choreographed movements in time with the songs. Audiences who were at the 2011 show might have been familiar with the drill, but it still felt fresh and fun, especially with performances of the newer songs, including "Natalie," and "Treasure," followed by a really cool mash-up of "Money (That's What I Want),” "Billionaire," and “I Need A Dollar." Bruno showed off unbridled energy executing his moves. Anyone who has ever tried to sing and dance at the same time will know it's not easy, and to do both well is even harder, but when Bruno does it, it's effortless and just so darn infectious. During another mash-up of several songs, which included "Our First Time," "Pony," and R. Kelly's "Ignition," Bruno upped the showmanship levels to heights his contemporaries can only dream about. (READ: Bruno Mars donates $100k ...by Yolanda) Doo-wop "Is it okay if I play you some doo-wop songs?" he asked at one point. "These are the kinds of songs I grew up listening to." There is certainly a throwback element to Bruno's whole persona as a musician, a sense of experiencing something familiar, but at the same time, there is also something novel and one-of-a-kind, as he so eloquently displayed when the doo-wop segued into "Marry You."
There was even a bit of unabashed flirting with the audience when he plugged Manila into the song so it sounded like he was proposing to the city. There's one way to endear yourself to the crowd (as if he needed to). Bruno kicked up the excitement levels towards the end of the regular set, with performances of some of his biggest hits, including "The Lazy Song," (in which backing vocals Philip Lawrence took center stage with his memorable line in the track), "When I Was Your Man," "Grenade," and, arguably the song that has had the most girls swooning, "Just the Way You Are." "Being Filipino, to see you all out there, you don't know what that does to me," he said to express his appreciation to the star-struck audience.
Bruno came back out to do an impressive drum solo and, with the rest of the Hooligans, perform two more songs, "Locked Out Of Heaven," and the big finale, "Gorilla." While filing out of the Arena, the thought in my head was whether it was worth it to contend with hours of horrific traffic coming to and then getting out of the MOA Arena just to see 90 minutes of Bruno Mars singing, dancing, playing instruments and basically entertaining the hell out of thousands of screaming fans. The short answer: it was. – Rappler.com

Bruno Mars Wows Audience in 1st Ever Concert in Singapore
On his first ever trip to Singapore, Bruno Mars proved why he's the consummate entertainer of our generation having performed the half-time show at Superbowl earlier this year, playing before a packed audience at the Singapore Indoor Stadium last night. With a minimal set that focused the attention on his singing, the Hawaiian-born Grammy Award-winning superstar, who has sold more than eight million albums and 58 million singles worldwide, and his funky band, launching straight into Moonshine and Natalie to kick off the concert.
The American singer was charming, breaking out into his megawatt smile as he addressed the Singapore audience, and was reminiscent of a young Michael Jackson with smooth moves, mixed in with soul-reggae, funk-soul style as he churned out hits like Treasure, The Lazy Song, Nothing' On You, and what he admits is his most emotionally difficult song to perform, When I was Your Man. The encore saw everyone treated to a solo drum set by Bruno Mars before he broke out into Locked Out of Heaven, topping it off with a rain of gold glitter. http://www.flickr.com/photos/m... In short, the Moonshine Jungle Tour by Bruno Mars was a concert not to be missed, and we can only hope the performer returns to our shores to offer us more in future. http://senatus.net/album/view/11902/ MJ L.O.V.E: https://www.facebook.com/...689&type=2 / YOUTUBE: http://www.youtube.com/us...nderSilent

Playing for his people By Allan Policarpio
Should anyone decide to nitpick about Bruno Mars’ Manila concert last Saturday, the only thing he could harp on is that it was over in under 90 minutes. But though the show was short in length, it certainly wasn’t in entertainment value. Mars, Peter Gene Hernandez in real life, didn’t waste a single minute onstage; crowd interaction was kept minimal, except when he set out to rouse the packed crowd to sing along with him. Not that he needed to. Unrelentingly, Mars bounced from one song to the next, covering a gamut of genres—old-school R&B, soul, pop, disco, reggae, funk and rock.
Highlights The 28-year-old US singer-songwriter set the tone with “Moonshine,” a midtempo disco-pop anthem that evokes Michael Jackson’s dance music. Sustaining the energy, Mars then ranted about that gold digger “Natalie, who ran away with all my money.” But before powering through the rest of his repertoire—composed of tunes culled from his two studio albums, “Doo-Wops & Hooligans” and the Grammy Award-winning “Unorthodox Jukebox”—Mars asked everyone to put down their camera phones, and move their bodies instead to the funky, retro-inflected beats of “Treasure.” One of the many highlights of the concert—part of Mars’ ongoing “The Moonshine Jungle” world tour—was a drawn-out mash-up that had the performer crooning to “Show Me,” “Our First Time,” and sampling, among others, Ghost Town DJ’s “My Boo,” Ginuwine’s “Pony” and R. Kelly’s “Ignition.” Interspersed with seductive interludes, that number showed off Mars’ vocal dexterity, as he shifted from a potent trill to a velvety falsetto and back. Feet constantly in motion, Mars, who’s quite the engaging showman, pulled off a series of slick moves that involved snapping, swaying, twirling, grinding and hip-thrusting. From the get-go, it was apparent that Mars’ music sounded even better live than recorded—bigger, bombastic and bursting with spirit. A lot of that had to do with Mars’ dynamic live
band, The Hooligans, highly-skilled instrumentalists who not so much played music, but exuded it. A sense of bliss emanated from the band members as they danced, sang, goofed around and tinkered with their instruments. Every so often, they fell into unexpected formations and performed fun, tightly choreographed routines; or they huddled with Mars on center stage and jammed together, much like a ragamuffin street band. Mars, born to a Filipino mother and Puerto Rican father, slowed things down with “If I Knew” and “When I Was Your Man”—the latter drawing the loudest screams and most ardent sing-along. “This was the hardest song for me to write and sing,” Mars said. He performed the poignant soul-pop ballad with just the piano backing him up, baring his more vulnerable side. He didn’t go for the big, glory note and instead settled for a tender riff, a move that was just as affecting.
“Grenade” was preceded by a piano solo that vacillated between madness and whimsy, while “The Lazy Song” and “Just the Way You Are” had the audience singing their hearts out—again. Mars proved that he was a complete performer, playing the guitar in some of the songs, and then the drums in an exciting solo. Thick, golden confetti rained down the jumping fans as Mars tackled “Locked Out of Heaven.” Finally, for his last song, “Gorilla,” the stage sprang to life with green laser beams darting across the arena every which way, and steady bursts of fireworks. Mars hopped atop a hydraulic riser and belted, in spurts, “Yeah! Baby! Baby!” And then he was gone. A few songs back, he addressed the rapt crowd: “Thank you guys so much, you have no idea how much this means to me—performing right here, being a Filipino, and seeing my people. I promised you all before, and I promise you all again—we’ll be back very, very soon.”

That's it, I officially think that Money Make Her Smile is Bruno Mars' best effort to date, sonically, musically and in terms of a lot of things.
Strange how I never been that intrested in the song, Treasure and Moonshine were my favorites (along with Gorilla), but this song is just fine. [Edited 3/28/14 6:24am]

Bruno Mars puts on exceptional performance in Singapore concert
Pop Singer Bruno Mars' recently performed in Singapore and the result was an exceptional concert performance that had the audience mesmerized and wondering if the legendary music performer Michael Jackson had come back in the body of Bruno Mars. He had already established an incredibly high performance level that he would have to reach to impress the concert audience due to his exceptional performance during the halftime show at the 2014 Super Bowl and yet his performance was considered by many to be better than that of his exceptional Super Bowl show.
Bruno Mars in Singapore had the audience in his control as he performed songs such as "Treasure", "Nothing on You" and "When I Was Your Man" throughout the evening while displaying his incredible dance moves in conjunction with his soul-reggae, funk soul style. This performance was one more example of why heis listed as number one on the Forbes "30 under 30 list" for most influential people.
Bruno Mars is without question one of the top musical entertainers in the world and the World's Largest Music Festival is going to have the pleasure of his presence this summer. The Milwaukee Summerfest is where this event takes place and he will be bringing his entertainment talents to Wisconsin this summer and in the process this will potentially be one of the most desired entertainment tickets of the summer.
In Singapore his concert was sold out and he put on a performance that had fans and reviewers thankful they attended and hoping for him to return ... soon.Bruno Mars' Singapore concert has reaffirmed his position as one of the best "live" performers in entertainment today.

Concert review: Bruno Mars, the dynamite showmanby Anjali Raguraman
Like its title ‘The Moonshine Jungle Tour’, Bruno Mars' concert in Singapore on Wednesday night had a heady, animalistic quality. By now, Singapore crowds are spoilt for choice when it comes to being entertained by A-list bands and singers. But few singers or bands sell out the Singapore Indoor Stadium months before they are due to play, and then put on a dynamite 90-minute show for 11,000 people. Mars, 28, was the complete entertainer at his concert on 26 March, showcasing his effortless vocal runs and sexy dance moves, and gliding deftly to play the acoustic guitar, electric guitar and the drums. Dance was the order of the night, starting from the multi-Grammy-winner’s opening to the adoring crowd: “We’re trying to get ya’ll up and dancing!”. He then served it up on a shiny platter of pyrotechnics, light wizardry and slick production. HITS GALORE It is amazing that he has released just two albums, ‘Doo-Wops & Hooligans’ (2010) and ‘Unorthodox Jukebox’ (2012), but has such a following. The hit machine belted out track after recognisable track, barely giving anyone any time to breathe. From old-school-flavoured ‘Treasure’ with its grand multi-part harmonies, to fan favourites such as ‘Billionaire’ and ‘The Lazy Song’, the set switched easily between upbeat numbers and slower songs. Each song had its own perfectly synchronised choreography, performed by Mars and his backing band, the “hooligans”, which included a three-part horn section, keyboards, bass, drums (played by Mars’ brother, Eric Hernandez) and background vocalist Phillip Lawrence, who was himself a standout entertainer, supplying comic entertainment. Apart from providing Gladys and the Pips-era, coordinated Motown dance moves, everyone on stage had an easy and infectious camaraderie with Mars, as he strutted around on stage, dripping with pop-star swagger. Mars knew how to work the crowd. Between flirting with girls in the front row and some cracking banter in between songs, he seamlessly weaved in covers of the sexually suggestive ‘Pony’ by Ginuwine and ‘Ignition’ by R Kelly in songs, catering perfectly to his target female audience. He held on to impossible notes, and his dance moves matched every accent and inflection in the music, hip thrusts, crotch grabs, spins and all.
But besides the showbiz pizazz, Mars also showed off his softer side. “I've written a lot of songs but this was by far the hardest song to write, and it’s the hardest for me to sing”, he said, heavy with emotion, before belting out the ballad 'When I Was Your Man'. Coupled with the ambience provided by a single spotlight, it was a stand-out moment in a concert already filled with many high points. Saving his smash hits for the encore, he performed an impressive drum solo before launching into 'Locked Out of Heaven' and ended with the very raunchy 'Gorilla' in which he sang of “you and me, baby, making love like Gorillas”. It was one of the many moments during the concert that decibel-scale-breaking screams, usually reserved for K-pop bands, were heard. Besides making many a girl in the audience jealous of his microphone stand, Mars had the capacity crowd grooving, moving, screaming and squealing from start to finish. We can’t wait to see him back in Singapore again.
