Peaches Geldof dies aged 25

TV presenter Peaches Geldof, second daughter of musician Bob Geldof and Paula Yates, has died aged 25, leaving a husband and two sons.

"We are beyond pain," said her father, confirming her death. "She was the wildest, funniest, cleverest, wittiest and the most bonkers of all of us."

"What a beautiful child. How is this possible that we will not see her again? How is that bearable?"

Police say the death is currently being treated as "unexplained and sudden".

Born in 1989, Peaches Honeyblossom Geldof embarked on a media career at the age of 15, when she began writing a column for Elle magazine.

She left home at 16 and went on to contribute to the Telegraph and the Guardian, as well as TV shows including ITV2's OMG! with Peaches Geldof.

She also worked as a model and, just last week, attended a launch for Tesco's F&F clothing range in London.

The writer and presenter was married to musician Thomas Cohen, with whom she had two sons, Astala, one, and Phaedra, who will turn one on 24 April.

"My beloved wife Peaches was adored by myself and her two sons," said Cohen in a statement.

"I shall bring them up with their mother in their hearts everyday. We shall love her forever."

Geldof lost her own mother when she was just 11 years old - TV presenter Paula Yates died of a drug overdose in September 2000.

Speaking to Elle Magazine in 2012, Peaches said she had not come to terms with Yates's death for several years.

"I remember the day my mother died, and it's still hard to talk about it. I just blocked it out. I went to school the next day because my father's mentality was 'keep calm and carry on'," she said.

"So we all went to school and tried to act as if nothing had happened. But it had happened. I didn't grieve. I didn't cry at her funeral. I couldn't express anything because I was just numb to it all. I didn't start grieving for my mother properly until I was maybe 16."

Geldof said she had experimented with drugs as a teenager, but was "never that wild".

She was previously married to rock musician Max Drummey but the pair separated in 2009 after a six-month marriage.

Her final tweet, posted on Sunday was a picture of her, as a baby, in her mother's arms.

In a statement, police said they were called to an address near Wrotham, Kent on Monday afternoon following a report of concern for the welfare of a woman.

The woman, aged 25, was later pronounced dead by South East Coast Ambulance Service.

She leaves her husband and sons; father Bob Geldof; sisters Fifi Trixibelle and Pixie; and younger half-sister, Tiger Lily Hutchence Geldof.

Peaches Geldof, the daughter of Boomtown Rats frontman Bob Geldof and late TV presenter Paula Yates, has died at the age of 25.

The news was confirmed shortly after 6pm today (April 7) by BBC News.

Police have said they were called to an address near Wrotham, Kent following a report of concern for the welfare of a woman on Monday afternoon. The 25-year-old woman was later pronounced dead by South East Coast Ambulance Service.

A statement from Kent Police reads: "At this stage, the death is being treated as an unexplained and sudden."

Mother to Astala Geldof–Cohen (aged one) and Phaedra Geldof-Cohen (11 months old), Geldof was married to former S.C.U.M. frontman Thomas Cohen.

A noted socialite, Geldof began her media writing a column for Elle magazine at 15. She later presented her own show on ITV2, OMG! with Peaches Geldof.

In the years before her tragic and shocking death, the 25-year-old mom of two was struggling to stay off drugs and find her “spiritual path” — and had thought she’d found the answer in Scientology. Only RadarOnline.com has all the details of her secret history with the controversial church, and why it wasn’t enough to save her.

Geldof’s status as a Sc...st emerged when she was spotted leaving the Celebrity Center in Los Angeles in the summer of 2009 with Scientology literature in hand.

But in an interview with Britain’s ITV2 later that year, she revealed she’d been a member for roughly two years.

“I am a Scientologist,” Geldof said. “I’ve been a Scientologist for a while now. I might as well be open about it.”

“It’s something that I agree with,” she continued, “and it’s something that … it’s like difficult to explain. Like I was confused about what path to go through, and I felt like I needed a spiritual path. And I was thinking about it a lot and looking at different things.”

She admitted, “I always kind of felt that I was lacking something when I didn’t have a faith … In the end, all it’s about is making yourself a better person. Like, that’s all it’s about. It’s just working through stages and working with other people to become a calm person and it’s really helped me in that way. I have good friends who are Scientologists.”

The Church of Scientology often boasts about their success with treating drug addiction through their Narconon program and related courses.

Last year, however, she had reportedly dumped the religion to dabble instead in “Thelema,” also known as OTO, a black magic religion. Geldof debuted a new “OTO” tattoo, and also tweeted a picture from on of the alleged cult’s books, including the caption, “#Thelema #OTO for all my fellow Thelemites on Instagram!”

As Radar has reported, Geldof was found dead in her Kent apartment on Monday afternoon after police were called over “concern for the welfare of a woman.” The cause of death has not yet been revealed.

I'm not disputing the fact that Peaches was an on again, off again drug abuser. I'm concern about Peaches' involvement with OTO. That is one of those "secret" socities that specializes in sex parties, drug-infested in some case.

Her death was sad, but, the facts cannot be overlooked her mother was who she was, and her mother did not learn she basically OD'd in front of her child with Michael, I can say thats sad and tragic but at the end, its sadder for those left behind. Even in Michael Hutchence case as much as i loved that guy and his work, it was senseless and stupid he even said those exact words to BONO when Kurt Cobain killed himself, though i dont think Michael killed himeself nor did his wife, nor did Peaches i feel. Drugs are a mental health issue i do agree and its not criminal and should be treated that way, but it bothers me more when the parents use it and take their kids with them.

LONDON – Former Rolling Stones member Bill Wyman, Sarah Ferguson and musician and BBC music show host Jools Holland were among the mourners at Peaches Geldof's funeral on Monday.

The ceremony was held on Easter Monday at lunchtime at the same church in Kent, England where the daughter of Bob Geldof also married in 2012. The church also served as the venue for the funeral of her mother Paul Yates who died in 2000 of a heroin overdose.

The 25-year-old TV presenter, model and socialite died suddenly two weeks ago at her home. The BBC said father Bob Geldof gave the eulogy. Her ashes were expected to be scattered in the estate's garden, according to reports.

British TV news shows on Monday showed some footage of flowers from well-wishers laid outside the church, which is next to Bob Geldof's Davington Priory country estate where Peaches Geldof grew up.

A hearse carrying a sky blue coffin arrived just before 1 p.m. London time, sporting a painted picture of Geldof, her husband, their two young sons and pet dogs, according to media reports.

The Geldof family told the media that the service, at which Peaches' younger sister Pixie was also expected to pay tribute, would be private.

Geldof's body was found on April 7 at the Kent home she shared with her husband, musician Thomas Cohen, and their sons Astala, 23 months, and Phaedra, 11 months.

Her cause of death is still not known as a first autopsy was inconclusive. The results of toxicology tests are expected in the coming weeks, after which an inquest is expected to be opened. Police have said the death is being treated as a "non-suspicious, unexplained sudden death."
