How would you rate Michael Hutchence as a singer?

He had a very bluesy tone. Looking back, he's a much better singer than I thought.

Tonal, weak. Feeling, legendary. Feeling is everything.

Depends how you look at it, some people like "clean sounding" singers like a George Michael or Freddie Mercury who are amazing, but Michael is different in style of singing, he never had that kind of range but to me he could go places that they couldnt, as much as i love Freddie and George, and also Morten Harket of a-ha who are to me 3 of the best voices ever, they don't have that "edge" that someone like Michael can grasp because it comes easy to those vocalists. As a frontman he was the last GREAT frontman of a band and one of the LAST real rock stars, know what it meant.

I would rate him if I was able to remember his voice

it's been ages since I listened to INXS, a band which I despise and dismiss as the "Maroon 5 of that era"...

Yeah i dont think i could ever compare them to that type of band, for one their is nothing distinct in Maroon 5 all the songs pretty much sound the same. Inxs were actually leading the way, helped MTV along with using the best video director of the times, and also U2 can and has thanked INXS for letting them steal stuff, pretty much Achtung Baby doesnt happen if INXS and Michael doesnt let Bono in to hear what they were working on at that time which was "welcome to wherever you are"

problem is that everyone knows them for one album more or less, but you really got to go into their catalog, they werent a hit till the 6th album, and KICK didnt sound like anything they did prior, they had a unique sound, i mean what band outside of Chicago had a freaking horn in it? and was on the radio, plus their work with dance music, being one of the first bands to have a "remix" ep, they are far from being a maroon 5 type type right off, i mean not digging them is one thing, i mean i hate the CURE to the core, but i get them and their appeal, they just dont do anything for me except make me wanna jump out of a window.

A rare version of one of their best songs.

Acoustic from his solo record released 3 years after his death, many tracks still remain un-released.
