Get ready to cry, or fear for proper society, or even just to retired to your room extra early tomorrow night, because word on the street has it that the one and only Madonna is performing alongside Miley Cyrus for Miley's brand-new "Unplugged," set to air on MTV on Wednesday.

While it's obvious that Madonna has made some pretty amazing music in her day, and you can't doubt that Miley does have some talent buried beneath all that twerking and licking, both of these women are only most recently known for their raunchy, over the top antics. Madonna and her penis bongs, and Miley and her ... well, basically everything that happened in 2013.

No, nobody's going to be paying any attention to the possibly-beautiful music that these two might make, because it's all about the stunts with both women. It stopped being about the music a long, long time ago, and the only thing that could make this worse (?) is if Beyonce were thrown into the mix, singing about boners. That might make it more uncomfortable to watch.

Sidebar its almost embarassing to the almost fantastic legacy of Unplugged to feature Miley.

I do realize it is 2014 and we're running out of things to bastardize.

Miley actually has a really unique good deep husky voice. She can actually sing. Why is it when male singers like Mick Jagger or Prince do outrageous sexual things it doesn't cancel out their talent but when women do the same thing, people have a big issue with it?

Since when does Miley have a good voice? She's auto-tuned to hell. Play her songs at a low volume and it sounds like a robot.

I didn't know "Unplugged" was still on the air.

The sad thing is that Miley actually can sing. I might have to watch this to see if she goes back to her real, very good voice. Or, if she continues with the nasally crap style she's affected since she "grew up".

I guess it would sound kind of weird if she sang about boners, drugs, sex, drugs, twerking, drugs, group sex and drugs with her good voice.

I was hoping this was simply rumor. Oh Madonna....

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Miley Cyrus mashes it up with Madonna, twerks with her tongue out and drops a bunch of F-bombs on her upcoming MTV special, and she's in fine voice while doing it.

While her whittled stomach and occasional crotch-grabs compete for attention, Cyrus really can sing, and it shows on her episode of "MTV Unplugged," airing Wednesday.

Cyrus taped the acoustic concert Tuesday on a Hollywood soundstage, performing stripped-down versions of selected songs from her latest album, "Bangerz," and closing with a booty-slapping duet with Madonna.

"So, it sounds super lame, but as a pop star it's pretty cool performing with Madonna," the 21-year-old said after singing a mash-up of Madonna's 2000 track "Don't Tell Me" and Cyrus' hit "We Can't Stop." Cyrus spanks the 55-year-old Queen of Pop during the duet, which made Madonna's Britney Spears kiss feel like it was way more than 10 years ago.

This is Cyrus' show, and it's a hoedown. Backed by a seven-piece band on a stage decorated with hay bales, Cyrus gives her acoustic songs a country touch, adding a twang to "4x4" and "Bangerz."

"I'm from Nashville," she said. "And since I couldn't make all of you guys go back home with me, I tried to bring Nashville here for the night."

Cyrus also includes elements from her more recent shows: a little person, a giant woman and two men in a horse costume. She works in a fair amount of curse words, tongue extensions and sultry moves as she performs songs including "Wrecking Ball," ''Adore You" and "Drive."

"I feel like I'm at karaoke, but it's only my turn," she said, "which is what I really like."

Refusing to age with even a hint of grace, 55-year-old Madonna clung desperately to her youth on stage last night with Miley Cyrus ... like a narcissistic mother trying to be hotter than her daughter.

It's just ... painful.

Madonna and Miley (who's 21 by the way) hit the stage together last night in cowboy get-ups for Miley's "MTV Unplugged" show in Hollywood ... but it felt more like a TLC special.

It's just the latest in Madonna's "I'm still hip" campaign -- in 2012, she named her tour "MDNA" an obvious play on MDMA ... and even once asked a crowd if they'd "seen Molly" ... a sad out-of-the-loop reference to the same drug.

Oh yeah, and a couple weeks ago she referred to her white son as "dis n**ga." Good lord.

Screw Madonna especially after that horrible performance at The Grammys, proving once and for all to the millions who haven't been paying attention that she CAN'T sing! Not even a little bit. It's telling that with all that spectacle of Macklemore, a chior, 32 mixed married couples and Queen Latifah, that she was THE WORST part of the whole thing. I'm no proper fan of Cyrus but if this happens she'll surely outshine Madonna.

Please Madonna....stopping trying to hang off of younger performers hoping some of their cool will rub off on you. Timberlake, Minaj, Cyrus...you don't need it! You didn't need it for Confessions, you last great album. And Miley, for the love of god, stick your tongue away!! Why the hell does she have to stick it out in every photo....!

Oh man now you're saying she can't sing? The woman is like 55 years old and she can't keep singing on the same original key, her voice should be damaged through the years.

Like MJ could sing all of his gems during History tour.. even Prince can't roar like he did back in the day and It's ALL NORMAL, singers tend to lose a lot of high notes as they're aging.

Agreed. If that Cyrus girl wouldn't have made headlines last year for being an attention seeking, cheap ho, Madonna would no where to be seen on that unplugged special. It's rather self serving to seek out the most polarizing "artist" and to latch onto that.

Madonna has been famous, especially over the past 10 years for aligning herself with young chart toppers. To name a few: Britney, Justin, Christina, Timbaland, Pharrell, Minaj... now Cyrus and Katy Perry (using Perry to be a judge in her Freedom For Art project). It's her way of trying to remain relevant - we know this. I'm no Madge hater and even though I don't believe Madonna can sing, I give her mad kudos for her achievement over the years and for providing some of the best soundtracks to many of our lives growing up . She's the ICON, not Rihanna - RiRi hasn't been around long enough to deserve such a moniker. I think M's time is almost if not already up and that's not a bad thing - just inevitable.

Seems to me Madonna just did it for fun and to support another female performer who looks up to her.

I don't think there's some big plan behind everything she does like most people.

Here, she's picking up a whiff of cabbage and Werther's Originals, and may well bolt to avoid an older female of the group trying to mate with her in a confused state.
