Christine McVie wants to rejoin Fleetwood Mac

Christine McVie wants to rejoin Fleetwood Mac

WENN

Former Fleetwood Mac singer Christine Mcvie is hoping to regain her place in the group after reuniting with her former bandmates during their recent dates in London.

The British vocalist quit the band in 1998 and embraced a quiet life out of the spotlight, but she returned to the stage with Fleetwood Mac during two shows at London's O2 Arena in September.

McVie enjoyed the reunion, and hopes she can rejoin them in the future. She tells Britain's The Guardian newspaper, "It was amazing, like I'd never left. I climbed back on there again and there they were, the same old faces on stage... I like being with the band, the whole idea of playing music with them. I miss them all. If they were to ask me (to rejoin) I would probably be very delighted... but it hasn't happened so we'll have to wait and see."

The star goes on to admit her decision to walk away from the group was probably a mistake, adding, "I think I was just music'd (sic) out. I suffered from some kind of delusion that I wanted to be an English country girl... and it took me 15 years to realize that it's not really what I wanted at all."

It's okay she didn't want to have anything to do with them for 15 years. Hopefully everyone can let by-gones be by-gones after all that time and reflection.

Her bandmates in last month R.S. thought McVie would never play with the group again. Ms. McVie seemed very sure her days of recording and touring with Fleetwood Mac, were finished. They all were quick to note, she would always be welcomed back and was missed. So, this is very good news for all. cool

I'm looking forward to a new studio album with Christine on board. As much as I loved Stevie over the years, I always enjoyed Christine's contributions too.

Oh, I'm so there for this next tour. Reading a couple recent bios has really made it hard for me to even listen to Lindsey Buckingham, but the whole band together just has magic, plain and simple.

Stevie Nicks On Christine McVie's Fleetwood Mac Return

Fast-forward a few years later to 2013, and Nicks was back on the road with her old band, Fleetwood Mac, for an international tour. Fans were no doubt jazzed by a very special guest that joined the group for two shows in September: former band mate Christine McVie.

The singer/songwriter left the group in 1998, and hadn't performed with the band since. "I think she's probably been asked 5 million times to come back to the band," Nicks says. "By all of us. By every one one of us. And she has said, in no uncertain terms, 'No. No. Absolutely not. No way.'"

So then it may have come as a surprise to many, when McVie told the Guardian in November that she would be "delighted" if the band were to "ask" her to play with them again. "But it hasn't happened, so we'll have to wait and see."

But Nicks says, "If Chris wants to come back to the band, I said to her, 'It's your band. I don't really think you have to ask. Because it's your band. McVie. Fleetwood Mac-vie? So, it all depends, Chris, on you. How you feel. Do you want to take this on again?'"

"This" meaning the "two-hour and 45 minute show" each night, which Nicks describes as a "job of champions" that "is not easy, 'cause we are not young. And we are out there rocking for almost three solid hours."

With that said, Nicks says "I don't know what she'll do. Story to come. To be continued."

On a related note, original member Jeremy Spencer has released a new album and is planning to tour the US this year. Read here: All About Jazz

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I have always thought that Christine had the more interesting voice. To me, she sounds like a man singing in falsetto.

One thing that is wonderful about this band is how differently their songs are crafted for Stevie and Christine.

Too late. Hasn't this so-called "reunion" already been milked dry in the last 15 years?

Not to me. wink

I might be alone in this but Christine McVie was the group's sex appeal (besides Stevie, Stevie was sexy too lol) as well as the voice and a great songwriter. Great combination. Sexy voice. music
