She really needs to be in the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame.

Sadly i don't think she has enough ''cred'' for the fame here. Since she is kind of a 2 hit wonder here...

In the UK she's practically royality.

That pretty much underlines how silly and meaningless such prize-giving ceremonies are. Even at their best they are only loosely connected to merit. But even if they were based on merit (which they never are) the idea of giving out gongs for something as heart-led as music would still be a little on the dubious side.

I think she does - she's well respected in the industry, among musicians and critics. If Patti Smith can get in, then Kate Bush certainly can.

Would be interesting to see if she did if she were ever inducted. I suspect you might be right, but who knows.... hard to say what Kate will do.

Somehow I had the idea that 50WFS was recorded (at least in part) in the U.S.? confuse I checked the album credits, and it says the orchestral recordings were done at Abbey Road, but doesn't specify where the other recording was done...

I see! Probably a good thing, given her reputation for taking a long time in the studio! wink

It was the cost of recording The Dreaming that convinced her to build her own studio.
A good move for her, obviously. Perhaps less so for the rest of us.

Had she been forced to honour record company deadlines we may have gotten more music out of her. lol

Without doubt, it's a classic.

I was a massive fan up until the superfluous Directors Cut, the insipid 50 Words For Snow (the duet with Elton John sounds is as bland as any other duet with Elton John) and the puke-inducing acceptance of a CBE.

Those three sorry episodes sadly put an end to my interest in her new music.

This track, and The song, "Hounds of Love", were my introduction to Kate Bush...Then I had to go back and grab all of "this woman's work", so to speak.......

This was my introduction to her as well, i had the 45 with "Under the Ivy" the b-side. But I didn't go out and buy all her stuff until I heard her duet with Peter Gabriel on "Don't Give Up." Simply sublime.

I'd love some deluxe reissues of her entire back catalog. Also I want "Aerial" on vinyl but it's crazy expensive on eBay.

lol Thanks for reminding me of that 45, I had it as well! I thought Under the Ivy was pretty good, but I can see why it was a B side.

Yeah it's a beautiful song, but it works best as a b-side. I don't think it would have fit on the album.

"RUTH" was my first taste of Kate in 1987. I was introduced 2 her music by someone I was dating at the time and I hated her. Then, all of a sudden, her music just clicked in with me. I have magical memories of that clicking. "Hounds Of Love" is a spooky masterpiece, but I still can't listen to "Waking The Witch" when I'm alone or in the dark. It absolutely, to this day, scare the effin' SHIT outta me with those demonic voices coming out of the speakers! LOL! She really doesn't have much cred in The States tho as someone else had previously pointed out, and it's very sad. She never really got her due here, but has a core following. LOVE her "Aerial" double-CD from 2005! Another masterpiece! smile

Brilliant song from a brilliant artist. My favorites by her would be "Breathing" and "Cloudbusting", but this is up there, too!

You're so right..Gloria would have knocked this out of the park and raised it to another level of artistic integrity.
