maybe it was being pulled to be placed in the cut-out bins it was a flop album.
in any case, the CD is easily available now. It's not out of print. And truthfully, that incident you described did not happen everywhere.I saw the album in my local record stores and it was never pulled.

a Jacksons album without Michael playing a prominent role....was never going to get alot of airplay and be a big seller anyway. He was always the only big "star" in that group.

that's not true either.....
it's the same narrative over and over again [Edited 10/28/13 4:10am]

was there ever any real interest in the Jacksons after Michael left the group in 1984?
but we're getting away from the topic of the thread...lol....Jermaine could have touring all these years (as a solo act)...maybe even teaming up with other old school artists on a package tour. Not so long ago in my area,we had a concert featuring Howard Hewiit,Stephanie Mills and The Whispers.I see no reason why Jermaine couldn't be a part of a show like that.

that wasn't no flop album........another unfortunate fable that's been included in this narrative for teh past 22 years
that's why this see saw continues to this day.....the truth is like repellant for those who want to cointue w/this narrative

there was plenty of interest....that's part of the problem......the truth is being washed away to substantiate the narrative
Marlon Jackson supplanted Michael Jackson on the R&B charts as early as 1987, when Michael released the most anticipated follow up album of all time
for a month, Marlon was the #1 r&b artist in the united states, even when Billboard distorted actual sales figures figures generated by black artists because it purposely discounted purchases made by black record buyers
THIS is why it's so difficult for today's music audience to believe Marlon achieved that
and he supplanted Michael's Bad single on the r&b video charts as well........I have proof of that
in 1989 alone, Randy, Jermaine, and even Jackie released solo albums....this was after 2300 Jackson Street was sabotaged and yanked out of site.....
Randy and The Gypsies debut song and album were receiving major airplay on r&b radio during the summer....and then all of a sudden you didn't hear his music anymore as if he never made the album.........an album so strong, even Jackie said he felt Randy's album stood on the same level of Janet's Rhythm Nation
Jermaine released DON'T TAKE IT PERSONAL in fall of 89...the title track reached #1 on the r&b charts too...the real r&b charts before the genre got watered down......so if you reach #1, that means there is interest in what u are doing
and he had other strong singles on the album too: TWO SHIPS, MAKE IT EASY WITH LOVE, I'D LIKE TO GET TO KNOW YOU, AND DON'T MAKE ME WAIT
Jackie's album reached gold status before you didn't hear that record anymore

Also the Randy and the Gypsys got Airplay in my area too. The lead single Perpetrators didn't fare quite as well but Love You Honey was all over my radio at the time. The success Jermaine had with Don't Take it Personal was all before the Word To The Badd controversy. As far as Marlon goes he had a little success with his debut album but his sophomore album never got released probably because the label didn't feel it fit the changing landscape and come on r&b fans weren't clamoring for a new Marlon album the way they were for Michael or even Jermaine at the time. Don't laugh at my funk
This funk is a serious joint
