Daft Punk's Random Access Memories $275 Deluxe Edition

From SPIN.com:

Daft Punk's Opulent 'Random Access Memories' Box Costs $275
That's more than the price of two Nirvana 'In Utero' "Super Deluxe" editions
Written by Marc Hogan October 24 2013, 11:55 AM ET

If Daft Punk's Random Access Memories were truly to recreate the '70s era of moneyed studio excess, it'd need its own outsize box set. As hinted during the recent New York Comic Con, the French disco robots do indeed have a deluxe, box-shaped version of their 2013 album on the way in time for the holiday buying-things-as-gifts season. It's no four-disc set like Chicago at Carnegie Hall, but Daft Punk's website shows the collection will cost $275 — compare that to the $125 price tag for Nirvana's recent In Utero "Super Deluxe" reissue — and will include a lavish amount of extras.

Inside the box, Daft Punk fans will find a double vinyl LP of Random Access Memories with an eight-page booklet. A separate 10-inch vinyl record will contain an extended version of Giorgio Moroder's "Giorgio by Moroder" chat. Gold- and silver-plated USB drives will contain high-resolution digital versions of the album, plus Daft Punk's "Get Lucky" remix, bonus track "Horizon," and all the associated promotional videos (including the recent "Lose Yourself to Dance"). There's also a 56-page hardcover photo book with a foreword by Paul Williams, a pair of full-body robot-design posters, a motion-picture film strip, and more.

Pre-order the set, which will ship in early December, and explore the full details of the offerings over at Daft Punk's website. http://web.randomaccessme...om/deluxe/

Any Daft Punk fans here willing to spend that much on this?

The most I have paid for any box set was around $100.

edit: I just remembered I paid over $200 for the Beatles mono box set.

I already own it on CD and vinyl. Why did they wait so long to offer this?

I still want that In Utero super deluxe edition. Paying closer to $200 was an EXCEPTION I made for Beatles mono box set.

I could justify paying that much for the Beatles, because, well, it's the Beatles and you got almost the entire back catalogue instead of just one album as is the case here.

However, if Daft Punk was my favorite artist ever and I loved this album, I'd consider getting this. I like fancy packages.

The Beatles one was justifiable because it was so many albums.

I enjoyed the craziness of (George Michael) Faith's super deluxe edition.

What other ones did you enjoy, Sexton?

Kraftwerk's The Catalogue is the first one that comes to mind:

But that is also a multi-album box. The single album deluxe edition about which I'm most excited (it's scheduled to ship next month) is Goldfrapp's Tales of Us:

It includes the album on CD, vinyl and 5.1 surround sound DVD, plus rarities, videos, a hardback book and more. excited
