Nope, you're not alone!

WHAT??? Apparently, there are 2 of you
I'm really curious - what could you possibly not like about it? It's so fun and catchy - is so much less overworked than their recent stuff, while still retaining that classic PSB sound. Stewart Price is a god.

Make that 3. Just not feeling it. Long-time fan but these last 2 cds haven't grabbed me.

i don't think it's awful. but after listening to it 2 times, i haven't felt the need to revisit it. however, i did listen to "actually" today, for probably the 3000th time.

"Nightlife" was the last one I truly fell in love with. Probably one of their best albums. > >

Well, clearly there aren't many Pet Shop Boys fans who dislike it, it's been praised like no record of the band since who knows when. I do like it, but what I don't agree with is this "return to form" thing many people have talked about. For me, the return to form was Fundamental, and they've continued making great records since then. ----- Actually, I prefer PSB introspective albums (Behaviour, Fundamental, even Elysium) to the more dance-oriented ones. So, I'm more Neil than Chris. That's why I like the new album a lot, but I wouldn't place it among my favourites.

Here's a vote for the non-awful side... "Electric" is classic PSB, and while I can actually appreciate that as a slight fault in terms of artistic growth, it's still a cracking good ride of an album. Strong melodies, great simple hooks, some good lyrical content, and a cracking beat. It's not the high point of their career to be sure, but certainly not a weak link in the chain.

It's pretty good to me. But I also like the producer.

....slight tangent...am I the only PSB fan who doesn't like Actually. That might be a bit strong but I defintely think it's over-rated. Not sure why as it does contain some of my favourite material (especially - obviously?- Rent, King's Cross, I Want To Wake Up) but it's not really an album I can listen to. If I could point to anything it would be the opening track of each side for me is offputting....I never really liked the version of One More Chance that ended up on the album and It Couldn't Happen Here just doesn't do it for me.

My wife asked me today if I had Electric. She had heard the CD somewhere & liked it . I hadn't mentioned it previously cause I wasn't too wild about it. You never can tell.

You may certainly be the only one, but let's wait... maybe someone will raise his/her hand too.

I respect it more than I listen to it - I really started loving them around Very. Their music has a way of sounding eternal overall - but those first 2 do sounds a little too 80s "flat" for me. [Edited 10/22/13 10:26am]
