I HATE when any artist does that...
Cause you spend money on an album to find out there are 4 other tracks on another album

This has happened for decades with some Japanese versions of albums. I remember during the 1980's, in the US there would be extra tracks on the cassette version of some albums (and later CDs) that were not on the record version. In a few cases, certain songs on an 8-track tape would have a different mix exclusive to it. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton |

I got the deluxe version of this album and it's a lot to take in. Many high points.
I loved:
1. Primetime f/Miguel. Pretty straightforward and basic, but still loved it.
2. We were Rock and Roll
3. Ghetto Woman
4. Sally Ride
5. Dorothy Dandridge Eyes f/ Ezperanza Spalding
6. What an Experience (this really grew on me after not thinking much of it).
And, I loved the two non-remix bonus tracks on the deluxe addition
7. Hell You Talmbout
8. I Want You Back
Liked most songs. These were the standouts for me.
To be comepletely honest, the Prince (Givin em What They Love) and Badu (Q.U.E.E.N.) tracks were among the least compelling. Not "bad" but "meh".
Still taking it all in.
There is more than 1 version? Now I'm ticked............
The deluxe version may be a Target exclusive. I'm not sure though. My friend had said something about it, but I wasn't really listening. Anyway, most of he physical albums I buy these days are used since it's generally older stuff that I can get at a good price. But, I saw this in the store and thought I'd pick it up. And very glad I did. As I said, the two non-remix bonus tracks are stellar IMO and among my favorites.
I don't love every track. There is some lack of focus and I could argue that she could have pared it down into one killer album. But, on the other hand, I love the scope and amibition. Better to have a few throw-away tracks (which will obviously vary for everyone) rather than not enough great songs. IMO, the highs of the album are very high and the lows aren't that low, just, as I said earlier, "meh." |

I'm not very happy right now.
I really dislike when they do this nonsense.

A cover of I Want You Back & a decent song called Hell You Talmbout. Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

the deluxe is a target exclusive and it has another cover and 4 bonus tracks: 2 remixes of queen and electric lady, a new song, and a beautiful slow cover of I want U back that sounds magical but a complete different song at the same time.. [Edited 9/13/13 16:42pm] |
