Yeah, I was listening to this really cool song from it in the store the other day and it was so got damn funky I went to buy this abum, but after talking to the shopkeep the song was actually Satellite by Nine Inch Nails, so I haven't heard anything from this album yet. But I am open to it, I haven't heard anything from Beat Thief in yonks, so am interested in what he's stolen from this time. I'm afraid of Americans. I'm afraid of the world.

I listened to true blood from the stream and it sounds like another retro track. The breakdown definitely sounds prince inspired. Im kind of looking forward to this album.

To me, this whole project is an artistic flop. I don't care if it's the best selling album of the year, the music itself is so outdated and monotonous. It sounds like it was made from the songs discarded from his previous album.

OMG
this is awful
what the hell? The album is JT's worst work
what the fuck happened! The production is underwhelming and everything is just too dated

In what way does it sound "dated"?? Do you mean as in the early 80s MJ vibe some tracks have, which I'm sure is intentional or do you mean "dated" as in early 2000s?? I actually love music that sounds "dated"! This album sounds way better than the first half of the album that came out earlier this year imo. It's more upbeat and funky. This album, I think should have come out first. It would have been great for Summer and the first album is the one that I think should be released now in Autumn. Just my opinion but I'm really didding this album a lot. It sounds like Future Sex Love Sounds.

So far, I 've really liked this project. He's really not playing it safe with the music, especially since most of the tracks (on Part 1) Are more then 6 minutes.
The 2nd part seems to have lots more guitar work then the first album does, there's more of a reliance on instruments, but at the same time having the modern sound thanks to Timbaland.
However, it's not perfect. The live version of "Mirrors" is a lot better than the studio version, and that's because of the production. The Beatboxing and the hand claps makes it sound like . In the live version there's some extra hornz added, more percussion, and an extra "snap!" given off from the snare drum. Sounds a lot more impactful.
Now onto Part 2... The tracks I like so far...
Drink You Away is pretty cool, I like it. The guitar is interesting as well.
You Got It On: Nice little song, not really sure why, it really sounds new wave, or maybe it just me. His vocals are in shape as well here.
Take Back The Night: Yeah, it really is the most poppy song on this album, but like Get Lucky by Daft Punk, this song is not representitive of the entire album.
True Blood: Now, this is a hot song. As other people have said here, his vocal really sounds prince-ish here, and if you actually listen to the lyrics and production, it's a perfect halloween song. This song should have been the next single off the album, not TKO.
Not A Bad Thing seems ok too, the intro guitar reminds me of something The Cure would have written. [Edited 9/25/13 19:20pm] [Edited 9/25/13 19:21pm] [Edited 9/25/13 19:22pm] The good ol' days weren't always good, and tomorrow ain't as bad as it seems.

Justin Timberlake Debuts New Album With Uncanny Michael Jackson Impersonation
Justin Timberlake, music man of 2013, is streaming his new album on iTunes. There’s a “secret” track buried at the end of the album called “If I Had a Pair of Wings.” Close your eyes: this is a Michael Jackson impersonation. Let’s call it a tribute to Jackson. The song is a ballad sung with minimal acoustic guitar and strings, and sounds very much like the King of Pop. It’s actually uncanny. Timberlake has buried the track inside what’s marked as an 11 minute track that starts with the 5 minute long “Not Such a Bad Thing.” At first you think, oh no, an 11 minute song. But halfway through. “Not Such a Bad Thing” fades out and “Wings” launches. I wonder what Jackson fans will say. Meantime, “20/20 Experience Part 2″ is a mixed bag. On first hearing I really like the opening track, “Gimme What I Don’t Know (I Want)” plus “Take Back the Night,” “TKO,” and “Not Such a Bad Thing.” That first track opens sounding like a Queen record, and then picks up the bass line and beat from Herb Alpert’s “Rise.” Still, it’s very, very catchy. It’s not possible that Timberlake won’t win the Grammy for Album of the Year for the whole “20/20″ enterprise. Sampled, reinvented, twisted, turned on its head, “20/20″ was the most ambitious and cleverest release of 2013. http://www.showbiz411.com...ersonation

Prince's influence on Justin Timberlake is undeniable, but (color me late) I've never made the connection between one Prince album in particular that seems to be a direct influential link to what Timbaland and Timberlake seem to be going for with what seems like 3 albums going so far and that is extended jams. Am I off wtih this one? Is the main influence of Justin Timberlake?

One only has to listen to the pre-choruses of "True Blood" and "Take Back the Night" to realize whose music inspires him the most.

I can't be the only one to hear this: "Not a Bad Thing"= George Michael's "Waiting for that Day (Can't Always Get What You Want").
And for that mtter 20/20 Part 2 < 20/20 Part 1. JT is fun to listen to, but he'd be much more interesting if he wasn't so dependent on Timbaland and MJ. [Edited 10/5/13 11:17am] "What kind of fuck ending is that?"
