The songwriting of CURTIS MAYFIELD

Brother Curtis in undoubtably one of my favorite songwriters, ever.

His lyrics are so beautiful, so haunting, just amazing.

Same here! Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Eddie Kendricks and Curtis Mayfield. They should be heads on a soul Mount Rushmore.

"The Makings of You" have to be one of the most beautiful songs ever written.

I don't regard him as a songwriter, he passed that point already, he was a true poet.

nod One of the true greats.

So many thoughtful, touching songs that bear out that description. This one, which hit me as a teenager and stuck, comes to mind, though.

Had "Roots" on repeat, last weekend. This weekend could be a "Sweet Exorcist" weekend. I love this man.

I would love to hear music like Curtis made in today's scene but it's not going to happen
