I like "Sheila Take a Bow" and Johnny Marr especially.

Identity

Morrissey gave us some of the cleverest lyrics written in the pop music genre ever, which were brought to life by guitar virtuoso Johnny Marr. I adored the Smiths.

I loved his stuff with the The Smiths! "The Queen Is Dead" album still rocks.

I do really like The Smiths and even some of Morrisey with his solo work. But they are HIGHLY overrated imo... it is a very ''hip'' thing to like The Smiths and alot of magazines will put them up there with Led Zeppelin and Prince no joke.

There a great band smile but people make them out to this religion of music and there fans are hardcore.... HARDCORE so don't diss The Smiths to a big fan lol

In England, absolutely. They are UNBELIEVABLY huge and respected there.

They were one of my fave bands when I was a frustrated teen. These days I rarely play them, but enjoy them when I do.

I was gutted when I missed their 1986 tour. Was stuck at a summer camp for performers, forbidden to leave the premises the night they played NYC. One camper managed to sneak out anyway. Then their Radio City show in Sept. got cancelled when Morrissey got sick. And then they broke up. SHIT!

I'm a big Smiths fan, but never got into Morrissey solo. Johnny Marr has worked with my favorite Neil Finn many times in recent years, which is awesome.

I really have to be in the mood to listen to the Smiths though. "Shoplifters..." is probably my favorite. "Please Please Please..." is a song that is so poignant and fitting that I'm surprised more TV shows and movies don't use it (and there's already a slew of them that do).

I like them a lot. I love Morrissey's lyrics. I like all of their work, as a band and also Morrissey's solo albums. My favourite one is Vauxhall And I.

Having said all this, I place them behind Pet Shop Boys, and certainly far behind Prefab Sprout.

Morrissey's a tit of a bloke, but The Smiths are ace. (Weirdly, Johnny Marr's one of the nicest guys in music, by contrast. I don't blame him for not hankering for a reunion with old moodybritches.)

Morrisey? cute? well to each his own but thinking of morrisey in any kind of sexual way makes my skin crawl lol

Can you imagine how whiny he is in bed? ''oh no don't make me cum please please i can't take the emotions i might break down please no''

''oh yeah baby i was so lonely it feels so good in you yes please i really like you yes yes please don't leave me yes baby please please stay with me''

The Smiths are amazing. I have got into some of his solo work. My favorite solo disc is 1992's Your Arsenal.

He definitely has his sexy moments!

Well I never took Moz's persona seriously. I think his lyrics are more tongue in cheek than most fans want to admit. I mean how can anyone take November Spawned A Monster seriously. smile
