thank god music is showing some hope will Bruno Mars on the male side and Janelle on the female side

nothing against bruno mars but she is a better artist in my humble opinion.. wink

It ain't always about music, the look and style!

Cuz Bruno ain't of those who rock them silly pants and show the SAWG thing the rappers have between, he's CLASS just like Janelle.

Yes! Agrees with both GeorgieAto and Shawy. Janelle and Bruno are both breaths of fresh air and badly needed in today's music industry. So glad to see real genuine artists out there doing their thing and making their mark biggrin Now we just need these two to collaborate on a song together...

I love it! Fonky!!! The woman is a massive talent, amazing live performer and, my God, one of the most beautiful women walking this planet. I'm excited for the new record.

Why? Cause she doesn't dress like pole dancer, like all the other pop tarts? You can see how stunning her body is in all the outfits she wears: more to the imagination.

Just because you like Janelle doesn't mean you know "quality music" either. Music snobs make me sick. And I bought Janelle's EP (which I love) and her first album (which is extremely overrated) so no hate from me, just an observation from watching her career. She was a "breath of fresh air" when she debuted but she's being doing the same mess since then IMO.

It's not about being a music snob, IMO, just acknowledging that's she's unique. Which I can't deny if she's compared to the Gagas and Beyonces of the world; who musically, IMO, are dull and uninteresting. Beyonce's music is forgettable and Gaga is (with the exception of the Halloween costumes--who others have done it before and better) too desperate to be considered an "artist" when her music is the same euro-techno crap that everybody else plays. I won't deny both ladies can sing (compared to Rhiana and Kay Perry whose success I find very curios, and whose singing skills are questionable) but someone like Janelle (and Erykah and Robyn) who are unique and strange in music and style because they're just naturally strange.

I love about Janelle and Erykah that they are naturally strange. if you see some interviews you'll see they are just like that..they're naturally unconventional..

First off love HER style.

Secondly she is hot and gorgeous!

She has talent and I enjoy the 2 new singles-they are not mind blowing or music changing, but it is real music. I will buy this new album.

The problem to me is the flat, digital recording style of this era doesn't match the old school upbeat quality of the song. It should sound like this. Listen to the depth and openness of the sound. Sound engineers sculpting the sound of the recording seems to be a lost art.

you can be right about this ...the studio version is a little too much "clean" for this sound...but maybe it didn't fit with the rest of the record if the rest will still be digital this would have sound strange among the others...but as a track alone yeah it could have been really amazing recorded in the old fashion way...

I am DEFINITELY frustrated by her two new singles, Queen and Apocalyptic. Queen was simply weak, but this is mediocre, I would dare say. Just because you work with many good-music-era's references and registers does not necessarily mean you're making good music. It's like saying that Grammy performance from that lame song Push Glove Girl by Justin Timberlake is great music only because of the art-deco big band era stage. I really can't believe this is the same woman who recorded the GREAT ArchAndroid, one of the best albums of the last few years, and none of these new singles is ANYTHING REMOTELY comparable to her master songs like Tightrope, Dance or Die and Faster. But, hey, that's just me.

I agree that working with many genres doesn't mean you're making good music..but I like her songs and not for that reason..anyway tightrope was the only single among those track mentioned...and it was one of my less favorite from the archandroid even if it's a good track but there were better songs on the album imo..generally her singles are my least favorite in her albums don't know why..queen it's a good track I like it..the lyrics, the funky, the rap...this song is her poppiest song to date but as a pop track it's catchy, fun, it seems a jackson 5's song more than janelle's honestly.. just for once probably she wanted to do an easy song. ..still a pop song over the standard passed on radio imo..

I like Q.U.E.E.N. more than "Dance Apocalyptic", too. But there's nothing wrong with a putting out lighter, catchy pop song every now and then. Anyway, I think we need to hear the whole Electric Lady CD before comparing it to ArchAndriod. I am hoping it is another ambitious, out-there, concept CD.
