Love it! Just a fun summer song! "Look at cha you look just like a little earth quake....quake it!" Like how she ends with a Camille like voice too Getting very excited for this release and to hear the Prince collab

it was her android alter ego cindi's voice but I immediately thought of camille too.. lol

Cool! Bring on the Cindi and Camille duet! smile

I love it -- "ain't no order in this courtroom," LOL. It's been a really long time since I've been as excited about a current artist as I am about her. I think it has mainstream potential, although I love Q.U.E.E.N. even more.

GREAT song..gonna be a hit..it fits right in with the retro vibe that's on the charts right now

right? this song has hit written all over it!!..and she was at 106 and park yesterday on BET shaking that ass like there wasn't tomorrow .. biggrin she is always such a ball of energy.. a true amazing live performer...

I hope you're right. I really want this girl to win. The cover girl commercial she has featuring this song is good promotion and of course any good live performances doesn' hurt.

I don´t really get Janelle Monae. Her look, her sound, her whole attitude....not that I´m hating ... lol ....but I really don´t understand what makes her so popular. To each his own I guess.

I hear what she's doing , I see what she's doing but I don't feel what she's doing. I feel and can get into Badu and the others, but Janelle I haven't got there. She just doesn't have a song that has hit me, maybe in time she will.

It's official I'm totally in love with her.. biggrin

for the new hairdo alone. FINALLY!!! lol

Fun song and cute video indeed. Btw when is she ever releasing Electric Lady as a single? She's been performing that song for more than a year now, I thought for sure that was gonna be her first single...Not that I'm complaining though. QUEEN & Dance Apocalyptic both get thumbs up from me wink

The whole “Oh, edgy! different! stay true to myself!” act is tired and gets boring after a while.

she is what she is...she is edgy because a lot of creative persons are like that...I know people aren't used to the huge creativity of real artists anymore..but her edginess/ creativity is an asset not a flaw in my book..

Straight rip off of, OutKast, "Hey Ya"... Maybe, this is the issue I have with her. It's one thing to have then as one of you look up to, it's a totally different issue to copy their style...

but she is one of the most original artists out there confused she is her own persona..I have this problem with Miguel and D'angelo for example I only see Prince when I look and listen to them..but speaking about the hey ya video outkast "stole" it from the beatles so as you can see nothing is original in music...

When I see her,I just see somebody trying so hard to be different and stand out, that she ends up looking the same as those who she is trying to separate herself from....

So you prefer artists who basically replicate what is "supposed" to be "hot" at the time?

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Uh... Outkast put her on. It's more than likely she was influenced by them both.

Who exactly does she look like?

She doesnt look like Rihanna, Beyonce, Gaga, Perry, Adele and so forth. She doesnt make the type of music that they make as well. She doesnt perform or sound the same as them. She doesnt wear her hair or clothes the same as them. So how exactly does she look similiar to them?

Did you ever stop to think that maybe Janelle is different because she simply is and not necessarily because she is trying to be?

If you watch her interviews where she talks about her influences, her childhood, her creativity, inspirations, music, etc you can clearly see that this girl is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT from the rest of the other female artists out today. She actually has her head on right and seems to sincerely enjoy making creative music. She has alot of wisdom despite her age. She is also very articulate unlike her other female peers. Dont see how anybody can get a contrived nature about what she does. She is a very fun loving, strong and intelligent woman from what I see
