Robin Thicke's Blurred Lines CD July 30th Release
As Robin Thicke's single, "Blurred Lines," sits pretty at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, the singer announces the release date for his sixth studio album. The follow-up to 2011's "Love After War" will debut on July 30. Aside from Pharrell Williams and T.I. ("Blurred Lines"), the album will also feature a guest appearance by Kendrick Lamar ("Give It 2 U"). The album's lead single of the same name springs from No. 6 to No. 1 on the Hot 100 this week, scoring Thicke his first Hot 100 No. 1. "I am absolutely thrilled that 'Blurred Lines' has reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100," he says of the song's success. " I am so grateful to all of my fans and am excited for them to check out the album when it drops in July. It is great that it is already being received so well." "Blurred Lines" also climbs from No. 2 to No. 1 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, to become Thicke's third R&B/Hip-Hop Songs No. 1, following "Lost Without You" (11 weeks, 2007) and "Sex Therapy" (two weeks, 2010). Pharrell and T.I. performed "Blurred Lines" on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' last night (June 13) and debuted a remake of the song's video specialized for Kimmel. Watch the parody below:

Interesting that the tracklist is so short... very reminiscent of Something Else. Tight and focused is good, but I hope we get some outtakes and/or bonus tracks. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

I'm sure there will be a deluxe edition with four or more bonus tracks

It's exhausting listening to 18-track CDs. Take me back to the days of 9 exceptional songs per album release. Thanks for the post, Joe.

I agree for the most part. However, those days also had singles released with b-sides. I'm all about the music. While I do want tight, focused albums, I also want the bonus tracks. Robin alone has left some pretty good material off his albums — "In My Dreams," "Threesome," "Look at Me," "Superman," "We a Family," "Compass or Map," just to name some — that I'm glad have seen the light of day due to leaks and deluxe editions. I am surprised it's being released so late though. It seems they would release it now since he has the #1 song.

So u want less 4 your $$? | |

I'm hoping he learned his lesson with the last album and the abundance of filler. I still haven't heard the whole thing and I purchased it. I'll be adding this one to my collection.

I prefer 12-14 not including interludes. As for Robin the only cd i own is Evolution and i wanted to get Love and War but never got around to it. Love and War was an exceptional song. This new single i'm not that crazy about it but hopefully he can string together another good album like Evolution. Don't laugh at my funk
This funk is a serious joint

My favorite Robin Thicke album is Something Else. It's a very underrated album.

I agree. They should release this CD *right now* while the first single is doing so well.Or maybe they're gonna launch another single right before the release date?

I don't think Love After War quite reaches the level of his first three albums, but I wouldn't say there's an abundance of filler. Well, if anything I'd say it's a little too samey, so I guess if you don't like one song you don't like a few of them.
My rankings:
1. Something Else 2. Evolution 3. A Beautiful World 4. Love After War
...but I enjoy the vast majority of all four of them. I bought Sex Therapy, but I still haven't spun it yet. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

Sex Therapy is my least favorite. There are a few good tracks, but it pales in comparison to the other albums.

Okay i got this song confused with Love And War. Love and War is cool too but All Tied Up was the exceptional song i was talking about. Don't laugh at my funk

"All Tied Up" is a great song

I thought so too. | |

I'm sick of bonus tracks, and filler. When artist first started doing it, it was cool because some of the songs, were actually great. Now, it seems like they are putting just about anything as a bonus track. Just give me my meat and patato's and I'll be on my way... "Love is like peeing in your pants, everyone sees it but only you feel its warmth"

The cool thing is...in this iTunes era that we live in,you can pretty much create your own tracklist
Personally,I love getting more bang for my buck.I figure it will be another few years before we get a new CD from Robin,so I want as much new music from him as I can get.
