It's a very misleading, but is not an inaccurate article. It is called 'the billion dollar entertainer -' as in the projects she’s been involved in has generated over a billion dollars in profit.
It is a PR strategy to diminish the dumbfounded rumours about her trying to get her hands on MJ’s money and her motives for ‘kidnapping’ her mother. Also that she is a gold digger – marrying a ‘billionaire’ for ‘his money’.
The article highlights that Janet is financially independent, a smart business woman who is not dependent on anyone- this should be celebrated. | |

Turns out that by doing this, Mr. Cruise made a shitload more money than he would have by simply just taking a pay out for his acting in the film. Investments, investments, investments...that's the way to make real and oftentimes easy money for a person (celebrity or not). Sadly, it's also a way to lose everything as was evident by poor Nicolas Cage who lost a large amount of his fortune through poor investments and bad business dealings with untrustworthy people.I think Janet just made some smart investments throughout the years. Plus, she seems smart enough to just live off the interest of her millions which personally I would see as being common sense but like I often say, 'There's no school for common sense.' Some people like to spend big now and not consider the future. I guess they like the idea of having to work for the rest of their lives. Not me that's for sure. Janet has always seemed like a saver, a smart investor, and a moderate spender. I don't really think she has a billion dollars in the bank but I don't doubt that she has made that amount over the years either. How much of it she actually has is the question that may be hard to answer. I saw someone mention that Madonna makes more than Janet and she's not a billionaire. Um, have you seen the amount of production and money that goes into a Madonna tour? I saw snippets of her recent tour on the Billboard awards last Sunday and that shit looked mad expensive to put on. Seriously, I was watching thinking to myself, 'Hell, it's good she sold all those dates out because she would have been ass out if she hadn't...shit looks super pricey but hey that's Madonna for ya...image, image, image. More power to her.' From the cost of just the amount of dancers alone, she's shelling out thousands just to have them dance synchronized behind her. Her shows damn sure are far from cost efficient but that's what she wants and she has the money to blow on 5 or more designer costume changes, 50+ dancers and their costumes, a huge band, and some gaudy but extravagant staging. There are lots of touring artists who don't have all that and don't sell out arenas but they still make a nice profit in the end without expecting their fans to shell out over $100 for nosebleed seats. Janet's last tour was very scaled down but still produced high sales and sold out dates and was a well done show. Personally, I don't need all the fireworks to enjoy an artist I admire but some fans love that excess and will put themselves in the hole just to get tickets to see the spectacle. I can go to the circus for less than $50....I'm good  . How much Janet has really doesn't matter to me in the end. it's of wonder to me how many do not consider how long janet jackson has been an entertainer.
janet joined the world of entertainment along side her sisters and brothers in 1973.

how many mega-bucks has janet made from her early years as an actor and musical entertainer? also to some it would seem logical that Ms Janet Jackson has been a major earner in the entertainment field for ______ yrs. (u fill in the blank). or is there a rule that her earnings as an overall entertainer does not include her time in front of the major television networks? or does in include only her time as a recording artist? 2013 still looking good may well she is a billionaire sans the doubters. do the math!

I too forget about her early start in the business. I wasn't aware of her until "Good Times." I wasn't old enough to remember the family's variety show in the 70's. Most associate the beginning of her musical career with the "Control" era, not even acknowledging the first two albums. Hell, I think even Janet herself starts her music timeline in 1986.

yup! and i'll bet janet's mother (and father) made sure a large part of her television career and performance $ payments were put in to trust funds for her. most likely they were released after she turned 27yrs. shoot janet probably has trust funds and monies she still has not t touched due to her extensive tv career timeline.
oh and i forgot, she was on a television show in A New Kind of Family sept 1979 - jan 1980 along side rob lowe and telma hopkins her character was name "jo jo ashton"
