if i remember right, poetic justice was low budget and modest box office. i doubt she even made 3 million off that.

nutty professor 2 did big money, big budget, but most of that would have gone to eddie who produced, wrote, and starred. again, i would be shocked if she even earned 3 mill off that.

for colored girls was probably her biggest paycheck, but with a cast like that one and doing the movie version of a classic of theatre, i bet most of them to paycuts to do it.

i would be amazed if she made even 12 million off those movies.

I'm devastated that Prince doesn't have all his masters back. He has started to get sum of them back though. But his managers & lawyers at that time seriously robbed him. In that renegotiated contract he signed in 93. It should have been part stipulated in the bargaining plan to resign him. Prince could have been a billionaire by now.

Janet's biggest selling albums haven't even been recertified. She's probably the only big diva who hasn't had her big albums recertified. I'm sure janet. and probably Rhythm Nation are diamond in the US by now. Hell, even her first album has sold over a million at this point. What's more, Janet's songs are consistantly sampled and covered by other artists. She has her own publishing company (Black Ice/Black Doll Inc.) and writes many of her songs, so that's more money. Then there's residuals, etc.

She got 3 mill for Nutty 2, plus an additional mill for "Doesn't Really Matter".

they are not saying she made that much from the movies,they are saying her movies combined made that much. the klumps alone made well over 100 million,so its not impossible all the movies she played in combined made 300 million. there are artists who sold more but that dont mean they earned more, remember janet signed the biggest contract in history,mj got a bigger one after her. so if janet was making 2.50 per album while some other artist who sold more was getting .50 cents,do the math.i dont know what janet got in her bank account but she dont seem to be short on cash,her lifestyle aint change even though her sales been declined. i dont doubt madonna's cash either,forbes was hating because they like to promote jayz and beyonce as the richest in music,well if those 2 who still hustle like they broke can be called billionaires why cant janet

I'm not sure of the logistics of it all but I'm sure Prince had a contract that many artists signed back then. I'm not saying he should've but it is what it is. The problem with many artists is that they probably didn't even think of the importance of ownership back then. Because of Prince's being so vocal back in the day, now they do.

Some artists have loopholes in their contracts. Prince most likely doesn't.

Prince could be lackadaisical about many of his dealings back in the day, but I call BS on laying this one on him.
