Gunsnhalen

Eurtyhmics by a landslide smile

Better music, WAY better singing and better production. I would also say i like the mysterious nature of the lyrics more as well.

Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

All music is shit music and no music is real- gunsnhalen

I love Annie but Madonna does it for me. Classic 80s pop.

Love both the Eurythmics and Madonna but Annie is my favorite female artist so definetly the Euythmics. Not one of my favorite Madonna songs.

Minor works from both, but the Eurythmics one is less egregious.

definitely Eurythmics! One of my favorite songs by them. Madonna loses points for that movie, I tried to watch as an adult and it was a struggle.

Me, too! Though in general I like Madonna more than the Eurythmics. It's not really a fair comparison because Who's That Girl is one of their best and most iconic songs whereas Madonna's is one of her lesser semi-forgotten and casually thrown off songs.

Much like "Causing a Commotion" and "Angel," the current status of "Who's That Girl" is largely related to its omission from The Immaculate Collection. FWIW, it's my 8th favorite song by her. It's catchy and fun... pure pop perfection.

Off the top of my head I can't even remember how the Madonna song

goes so I would have to give it to Dave & Annie's song.

Best rock duo of the eighties. biggrin

While there's no similarity beyond title, It's an easy choice for me-Eurythmics!!!

Who's That Girl would be one of my least favorite Madonna hits. It's just ok. The Eurythmics's WTG is slick and mysteryous and sexy.

what a question! lol. i like it!

I worship Madonna and I am a casual fan of Eurythmics, but in this case the vote goes to Annie & Dave. Their "WTG" is one of my favorite songs from their catalog. Madonna's "WTG" is one of my least favorites of hers.

As much as I love the Eurythmics and Annie Lennox and her whole blonde wig phase, it has to be Madonna here. Besides there are better Eurythmicxs videos there, although it is a great song.

Madonna's song is a bit weaker, but her video has more Pizazz! (How 80s is that!)

Sounds a lot like the song "I need a man" which was from 1987 and she was wearing a similar drag queen wig (Why!!! but its so her) and after the very camp song, she pulls the wig off and starts laughing.

I need a man is off Revenge I think. I don't have all the albums.

I just love their videos, as Annie was so androgynous looking back in the 80s. I didn't know if she was a woman, man, transvestite or Grace Jones in whiteface!

I love their first songs, Love is a stranger, Sweet dreams, Whos that girl and Here comes the rain again, their later songs are great but don't have the occult starkness of these first songs.

And yes, she pulls the wig off twice here, first a blonde Jean Harlow type thing, then a Suzie wong black wig and finally she slicks her hair into a David Bowie 1976 type do and with her mannish looking suit ends up looking like the thin white duke.

Its a bizarre video alright, but considering it wa stheir first big hit, its a great one too.
