Bruno Mars covering Jimi Hendrix

hey

i just saw this performance of Bruno doing so many songs like Locked out of Heaven and Show Me..

but his cover of Jimi Hendrix's Fire is so cool and great (starts at 13:12)

I think he really focuses on Live instrumentation, the guitar solo was sick also!!

Yes he does! He's all about doing everything live, his band, his vocals. No lip syncing or singing with a backing track for this guy. Loved this whole set he performed, especially the song he performed right after Fire (at 15:45) falloff

His shredding technique is amateurish and very prosaic in my opinion. Where's the fiery solo we were promised?

hhhhdmt

his cover of fire is pretty good apart from the grunting noises lol.

but yeah the cover was pretty good and much better than i expected

as for Hendrix, he was NOT a shredder. What Mars should have done was to play the solo the way it is played on the record.

I love that he does this, the (mainstream) music industry seriously needed this. To think that he got rejected by American Idol 10 years ago because he "sounded" too much like MJ lol... I also like that he is finally getting appreciated! Great things are ahead of mr Hernandez! Need to see him live!

He tried out for American Idol? I didnt know that! I'm actually glad they rejected him, its much better for him making it this way on his own and doing his own thing. Except for Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood and Jennifer Hudson, the contestants on AI or any of these tv talent shows really dont go anywhere after the season wraps.

you know what I mean

youre one of those mamma jammas in an izod shirt, critiquing music and considering pop music as less than

you're a rockist if you will

instead of just being able to enjoy something just to enjoy it you try to masters level the music...analyze it to the nth degree and by decree..decree of some better than though bullshit lense

its why Van Halen got lauded as a bs party band and Rush is thought of as a thinking mans band

but who the fuck wants to put on Rush at a bbq...who wants to play Risk instead of Scrabble, twister, etc..who the fuck wants to hear TV On The Radio instead of Marvyn Gaye, Motown, Pendegrass, Jaheim, Dangelo, Living Colour.....

all the while scoffing at the little girls (and some little boys) WHO UNDERSTAND...MAN!

you oaint Hendryx and them as epitome icons that cant even be touched but dont know they were simply some of the firsts who got lucky and those peons of today that you deem unworthy are actually keeping them alive by tribute while all you do is type words and point fingrs and shake your head

keep ruining it...we will end up somewhere

Actually, I'm a listener who heard a solo that was bland, at best. I love rock, but Bruno ain't it and doesn't represent its rebellious spirit. That's my own assessment. I can't see why you would find that so objectionable.

Azz

They turned him down because he is a weak singer.

Jennifer Hudson, Carrie Underwood, Fantasia, Jordin Sparks, Kelly Clarkson, Adam Lambert are all better singers.

Get over it Ass! I mean hun' Bruno doesn't need to be compared with females! he's a male LOL. Concerning Adam Lamert he's vocally BOSS and he's maybe better than Bruno, but wharrup with "weak singer"? Everybody around and even the haters accept that Bruno's vocals are nothing but pure perfection during Live singing, gimme one singer that sound BETTER than the record nowadays.

PLUS all that Bruno is a multi instrumentalist and producer, Adam just sings in fact Bruno wrote several songs for him.. That makes this shit more like a " Bruno > Adam ".
