New Artist!! Philip Owusu: "Goodnight"

....

[img:$uid]http://www.soul.../img:$uid]

Based in Copenhagen, Denmark, multi-instrumentalist Philip Owusu first hit the music scene as part of the duo Owusu and Hannibal, (Robin Hannibal would go on to form Quadron). The Owusu and Hannibal project gained an underground following, but didn't get much recognition from the mainstream. I hope that will change with the new solo album...

I love the fact that his sound isn't easy to categorize...with influences that range from Sly Stone to Kate Bush, to Cameo, and from Stevie Wonder to the Singers Unlimited, dude's music is definitely up my alley!!!

I featured this artist on my February org mixtape. So, now Philip has a new album due out soon, called "SUBS", and 'Goodnight' is the first track making the rounds now...

Oh yeah, girl you keep me off the ground
with a spin on my head
Hmmm

The skyline leans, tips and turns
I gotta sleep low, take me to my bed
please

Them demons are not easily appeased
My unflinching nerve, i’ll hear verse sung of my
chivalry

Oh you can drop my stained trainers right here on the side
Be good to leave one foot on the floor for
me

The evening rose up from a lull to meet it’s urgency
a tremor ran down through the company
A few stood down, others fell or saw their saw their chance to leave
and easily men taller and broader than me

I lined the shots and chasers up and lined them up again
in the order served by a legion of serving men
I lit the fumes and vapours and scorched the bristles off my chin
then hurled each down the rank and ravenous den....

We other orgers can always rely upon you and Pr. Neal to hip us to great music, this is no exception. I'm easy to please and I'll definitely look into a future purchase of this man's songs.

Cheers cool Great intro, harmony vocals and drum fills on "Goodnight". Philip's name somehow reminded me of keyboardist Philip Woo (Maze and others) lol. Owusu, is that from African or Asian heritage? Saw online that photo of Philip Owusu with Robin Hannibal before sometime.
