Saw them perform during their first visit to the U.S. at a 1967 Murray The K Easter show in Brooklyn NY.
This was a few months before their...

...Monterey Pop Festival performance.

The original PUNK band, almost a decade before it became fashionable.

Right on!

Here's my review of the Staples show for the LA Beat. Spoiler: I found it quite moving.

Nice review.

Shame about Pino Palladino.

I saw him last year with D'Angelo where he was poorly mixed there also.

Yeah as one friend of mine put it, "they need to give Pino the keys to the bass."

Maybe at this age, Townshend is happier NOT having to worry about someone else's counterpoint when he's playing. He has said before that he always wished the Who had a straighter drummer than Keith Moon, which, you know... "do you even listen your own albums dude?"

Way back when
In Sixty-seven
I was the dandy
Of Gamma Chi
Sweet things from Boston
So young and willing
Moved down to Scarsdale
Where the hell am I

Hey Nineteen

It was a great show.

Really. Nothing against Kenny Jones, but Moonie was the one that lit the fire under their arses!

Tunes like My Generation and We Won't Get Fooled Again (among quite a few others) wouldn't be the same without Keith Moon.

When the band took their final bow, they had an awe-struck look on their faces from how much love they were getting...

Killer "food-fight" too

I LOVE The Who! I own everything up to It's Hard. But those boys need to wrap it up. I have no desire to see them now.

Awesome, awesome, awesome band...I really just recently got into them, thanks to CSI, to be perfectly honest biggrin

The whole Who's Next album is the absolute shit...Baba o'Reilly and Won't get fooled again alone are probably two of the hardest rocking songs of all time.

But I also thing they should have called it quits when John Entwhistle kicked the bucket...first they lost probably the greatest drummer of all time, then one of the best bass players..there's just really no substitute.
