No Doubt Postpone Tour Plans to Work on New Album

February 27, 2013

No Doubt's 2012 album Push and Shove was years in the making, and the band apparently doesn't want to wait that long for the follow-up.

Gwen Stefani and the guys announced on their Facebook page that they're in the studio right now, and are putting tour plans on hold to "follow their muse."

"While we were traveling the world last year promoting Push and Shove, Gwen mentioned she was inspired to write new music," the message states. "In December, around the time of our hometown shows, we discussed the idea of starting 2013 by getting back into the studio together. We did so in January and the new music started flowing with unexpected ease. After spending three years recording the last album, this new pace feels incredibly exciting."

No Doubt add that they've decided to "focus on this new music that we don't want to stop," so they're "postponing" their tour plans "briefly" while they "endeavor to create something special and inspired." The band says their goal is to "share this new music with you as quickly as possible -- both recorded and live on tour."

Push and Shove came out this past September. The group followed it up with an extensive tour.

Lol! I think a few people still care. I just hope their new album is better than Puch & Shove. That shit was whack with the exception of a few tracks.

I thought that Push and Shove was an excellent album. I'm not sure why they are making another new album. If they're doing it thinking they're going to have another big hit and interest a younger audience, then I don't think that's going to happen. People do still like them but more people who grew up with their older music in the 1990's. I wish they would tour now since I'd love to see them. I don't recall them doing any type of big tour to promote Push and Shove.

I see them sort of like Garbage. They're not going to have huge hits with their new music but they have a loyal older audience who still wants to see them live. Garbage is still touring with their recent album.

But if they're doing another album because they want to have more albums and build up a bigger catalogue, I think that's good. Compared to some other bands that have been around a long time, they don't have as many albums because they were apart for her solo career.

they had way too many years off, and i think they are feeling a bit out of it at this point. I wasnt crazy about the album but it was back to their roots for the most part, but i dont think they are chasing the commercial world, i mean they are all into their 40's now so they arent going to get played cause the mentality of mainstream cant function past a 20 year old thinking.

I read this the other day and am very disappointed. Push & Shove is a great CD but got little to no promotion. More importantly people just didnt get into it. Too bad

At least we can look forward to even more new music soon
