When you say "nowadays", I take it you means within 2010-13 thus far, hence why and how I'll answer your question like THIS....

Females:

1. Jennifer Hudson

2. Pink

3. Adele

4. Jill Scott

5. Kelly Clarkson

Males:

1. Prince (simply because there are too many male vocalists in the 2010's right now that are trying to him Prince-ly high notes just like this man! Even without making anymore career albums at the moment , he is still influencing young male vocalists today.)

2. Usher

3. Adam Levine

4. Robin Thicke

5. Bruno Mars

Agree, Prince was/still the only vocalist who kept his voice clean and good and still able to hit the very high notes including the falsettos.

But i think Bruno Mars is way better as a vocalist than Adam Levine and maybe Usher, i think Usher lost his voice and ability to reach them sick vocals, while Bruno can efortlessly do anything has to do with high pitch notes, check his performances and songs like "Gorilla (Demo)".

Female

1. Kelly Clarkson

2. Adele

3. Carrie Underwood

4. Jennifer Hudson

Male

It's hard to say. Practically none of them are sangers now. Maybe Bruno Mars. He's probably the most talented.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Bilal can take all (including Prince) on both in falsetto and low range. That dude is INCREDIBLE.
