Unsung:Mint Condition

It's gonna be odd seeing MC and Johnny Gill the next two weeks on

Unsung considering they both have been consistently putting out product

lately MC moreso. Nevertheless i look forward to seeing MC's story on

Wednesday. I'm gonna start the party with some recent live clips of MC.

MC WORLD! MC WORLD! MC WORLD!

I have always and still do love MC!!! I never miss an opportunity to see them live, as they tour constantly it seems. They do give great shows that leave you wanting more. Their music may not be on the Billboard charts but I can confirm that a lot of folks do come out and support them live. nod

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

They are the most feared and hated group of musicians in the business. An all black male R&B BAND who stayed true to their roots and do it better than anybody around, all without the need to "cross over" or sacrifice their art.

They are far from has-beens. They are, for the most part (besides The Roots), the only ones doing it right.

Not a whole lot of drama with these cats on the personal side.

Saw one of their concerts a few years back. Amazing musicianship, segueing into other songs with dazzling breaks. Also their solo part with 2 drumsets and a saxophone was memorable. Had a great chat with guitarist O'Dell afterwards and got the band sign some vinyls. Hope everyone enjoys their tv show.

Their Unsung episode was a lot better than i anticipated. I like how they talked

about their very beginnings until now even mentioning Roger Lynch(Roger Troutman's son)

in their initial incarnation. I never knew the band actually started playing in 1986.

It was very funny to see these guys going Minneapolis hard in 1986.

LOVE how no one in the band is fond of Toni and how they all gave excuses as to why they couldn't make the wedding (only Stokely attended). Seems to me where Toni was concerned, they were holding back.

eek How did you determine this conclusion? None of the guys said that they didn't like Toni or were fond of her.

OMG That gheri curl juice flying everywhere faint spit When they showed Stokley, I was dying laughing...it's a wonder he didn't slip and fall with all that juice that was flying everywhere. Reminded me of that character Gheri Curl portrayed by Keenan Ivory Wayans in the movie "Hollywood Shuffle". So glad they grew out of that.

Overall, loved this episode a lot! Learned a lot of things. I knew they went to the same high school, well most of them did, but it was interesting how they all came together. I really liked at the end when they invited Keri back on stage with them during the concert.

Stokley sure has been through some hair changes hasn't he? lol Extremely talented, no doubt. All the guys are...I love how each brings their special talent to the band.

Never knew that Jimmy and Terry were trying to get Stokley to record a solo album. hmmm I guess it shouldn't be that surprising, but still.

But again, loved this episode. nod

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

They didn't have to say they weren't find of Toni-you could see it. The looks on their faces, the weak excuses for not going to the wedding. Come on.

But you can't assume that just because they gave excuses for not going to the wedding (and yes I agree that they did) was because they don't care for Toni. I took it as they were upset with Keri for leaving the group.

Enjoyable ep of course, what I took away from it was that they are/were the last R&B group of actual musicians to have a major impact on the charts in their heyday. And even then their label or manager (?) seemed almost embarassed that they could actually play musical instruments unlike other groups at the time (Silk, Boys II Men, Jodeci etc). That's even more surprising considering that founders of their label (Perspective) were fellow musicians.

Jimmy and Terry had a distribution deal with A&M. Jimmy and Terry weren't
the problem,A&M was. Jimmy & Terry were told by A&M when they wanted to bring
in MC,Sounds of Blackness,LoKey that bands wouldn't thrive in the market
then. These artists proved them wrong although LoKey and Solo proved to have
a quick exit. A&M never gave Jam & Lewis or the artists on the label the support
they should have gotten. After Herb Albert left as A&R exec, they had already
slashed the number of black artists on the label before Perspective like
Jeffrey Osborne, Vesta, Jessie Johnson, Janet, Shanice, etc.

I got the same impression and I still suspect the song Runaway is about her. lol

It was very informative for me since I didn't know a whole lot about them before the third album. It was funny as hell seeing them all jheri curled down.

I liked how the show empasized their focus on musicianship against all odds because they are almost the last band standing at this point. Bless Stokley for not going solo and sticking up for what he believes...respect!

Nah it's not. Ricky Kinchen wrote the song about his brother(whether real or metaphorical).

I was at one of their shows and after playing the song, Ricky jokingly stated don't yall

be laughing at my brother on crack who i wrote this song about. You notice at the

beginning Ricky's son pleads to god to help his uncle.
