Sly Stone's Ode To Doo Wop - "This Is Love"

Sylvester Stewart in a very rare form, having fun and paying tribute to a musical style he seems to revere. One of the heartfelt & rare oddities he did, along with the song "Sylvester".

My absloute fave moment from "Small Talk" music

Edit: Thx darling kiss2

Its a very romantic tune. In many was Sly went old school; when guy's would get his friends together (noted, if they could sing) and serenade their lady love or a girl they had a crush on. Lovely song.

LOVE! Love practically all he did. What year did this song come out?

1974, from "Small Talk", one of his most underrated and endearing albums ever.

And yeah it is different, but then again, he never had the patience to repeat himself.

Not really. I believe he started out doing Doo-Wop.

Disagree razz Even if started out doing it, he is mostly known for his funky grooves and that is what most of his music consists of.

Yeah, Sly began as a Doo Wopper.

He was in a band called the Viscaynes.

I made a thread on this era not too long ago containing all the available Doo Wop tracks he did.

http://prince.org/msg/8/387373

This Is Love was an ode to that era of his life.
