Her posting of "Love and Happiness.... somethin' happened when Rev Green stomped his foot, I've been besotted. Watch at your own risk, its tooooooooooooo late for meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

I actually purchased this via iTunes after that thread.... [img:$uid]http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41DF0AYBHML._SL500_AA300_.jpg[/img:$uid]
And its all because of that foot stomping.
You better watch his gospel TV special from the early 80s, you'll be re-transfixed.

@ TD3 I love this thread! After I had posted How do you mend a broken heart I went on a Al Green binge myself I had no idea he was such a phenomenal soulful performer. He puts so much emotional and soul in his performances. I tried to look up a live version to How do you mend a broken heart because that is my fav song by him. Do you know of any live versions of the song?
I like the Full of Fire video He looked like he was having so much fun and he was letting loose in the You ought to be with me vid!

Well yes, that's the point. For those who want the version majcarousal posted in her thread, this is it. Of course minus the video but still after you hear Al foot hit that floor, its the same magnetic performance.

Now you've been around this board long enough to know my typing is suspect on a good day. Lawd... don't have me typing on a phone or iPad. Its a miracle it you can read or understand anything I type. But duly noted mjscarousal.
"You Ought Be With Me" is my favorite Al Green song.
This is the other song on the "Soul Train Live" album. Note: Bow-tie was still tied, I would've loved to untie it that bow-tie Al.

You good sugar
and I feel where your coming from because alot of times my brain works faster than my hands and I have misspelled a ton of times or typed something but meant something else...
Still was unaware of how fine that man was!
Al was one of the very few singers that actually could sing live and it sounded like the album version or better than the album version

"The Gospel According To Al Green"
Thats the one I'm talking about!
I'll try to buy the DVD on face value, I know I will get my money's worth.

If he hadn't found Jesus I know he would've been the first male singer to do those only (beating out Teddy Pendergrass) women concerts. My ass would been in the front row throwing all of my business out for him to see.
I've had a crush on that man FOREVER, fine has hell. Green has never lost his looks. Looking at him recently, I think Green maybe taking steroids, he has that "balloon look"... that's a side affect of that drug. The 2008 video you posted of him, he looks like the Al Green I remember.
He just came from that generation what you had to know who to sing, technology could rescue you. From the Motown Sound, Atlantic Soul, Stax the list goes on and on what you heard on the record, is what you heard in concert. As you mention over half of them sounded better in person than on vinyl. My goodness, what happened?

I love, love, love his voice . I wish I had the chance to see him live one day, he's one of the few artists that are still on my list I'd like to see before I die. With a very special thank you to Tina: Is hammer already absolute, how much some people verändern...ICH hope is never so I will be! And if, then I hope that I would then have wen in my environment who joins me in the A....
