How would you rate Raphael Saadiq as a singer? Smooth, yes, but I wouldn't say he is one of the greatest. "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

Average vocalist but the cat has major talent in other areas.

I like his tone but I agree he is kinda average but he does alot with his voice. He is very talented in other areas like producing, writing etc.

I like him a lot. He's a nice tone and a great stylist (i.e., he can sound like or imitate Sly Stone ("Tonyies in the Wrong Key") or Al Green ("I've Been Thinking 'Bout You"), for example.

I think he is best when he sings old school stuff, but he is a monster songwriter "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

This. I love him anyway, but as a singer, he has an average..yet likable voice that is soothing. Like every time I hear "It Never Rains in Southern California" or "Anniversary"...those are feel good songs that just makes me want to sing right along with him. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.
