01 - I'll Think I'll Star A Fire

Performed by: Faunts

Written by: N/A

I heard this song just a few weeks ago on the college radio station. Fell in with it and then feel in love with the band. Now officially my favorite band of the 2000's

02 - Forgotten, Fossilized, Archaic

Performed by: Autumn's Grey Solace

Written by: Eric Welton/Scott Ferrell

Me and Autumn's Grey Solace go way back. I have no idea when or where I first heard them but it's been years. My favorite duo of the 2000's

03 - Limbo Title Theme

Performed by: Martin Stig Anderson

Written by: Martin Stig Anderson

The theme music to one of the most beautiful video games ever made

04 - Hidden Voices

Performed by: Me

Written by: Me

One of many songs I've written and produced biggrin

05 - Candles

Performed by: Alex Reece & Carmen Ejogo

Written by: Alex Reece/Carmen Ejogo

I found the single at a Goodwill a few years ago. Thought the cover looked cool so I bought it. Feel in love with the song. I had no idea who the female vocalist was though as she was simply labeled as Carmen. Last year when I went to see Sparkle, I instantly recognized the actor playing sister's voice as the vocalist. I looked online and found out my guess was right

06 - Amphibian

Performed by: Björk

Written by: Björk

One of my favorite Björk songs. Just absolutely beautiful

07 - Teardrop

Performed by: Massive Attack & Elizabeth Frasure

Written by: Robert Del Naja/Grantley Marshall/Andrew Vowles/Elizabeth Fraser

An absoutely stunning song by two underrated artists. Massive Attack's production is simple yet mysterious and beautiful. Same goes for Elizabeth's voice

08 - Alien

Performed by: Me

Written by: Me

Another song by me

09 - Old Iced Piano

Performed by: Chris Neal

Written by: Chris Neal

A gorgeous simple piano loop by someone who's never released an album as far as I know. I found this on a site called Looperman. The loop hit me by surprise in it's beauty. I repeated the sample a few times and added a drumloop sample either he made or someone else made (I'm not sure but I'm really sure he did it). Looperman page:http://www.looperman.com/...ile/162676

Soundcloud page: http://soundcloud.com/chris-neal/tracks

10 - Policy Of Truth

Performed by: Depeche Mode

Written by: Martin Gore

A great chillout/dance-rock song from a just as great album

Performed by: Faunts

Written by: N/A

I liked this song. The drum track is what pulled me in mostly...however I began to enjoy the melody and that solo at the end was pretty nice too!

02 - Forgotten, Fossilized, Archaic

Performed by: Autumn's Grey Solace

This one was a little chill for me. A bit dreamy in singing style. Not really my type of music but I see how it fits the theme of the mixtape thats for sure.

03 - Limbo Title Theme

Performed by: Martin Stig Anderson

Kinda reminded me of the "Are You Still Up?" interude on the janet. album

04 - Hidden Voices

Performed by: Me

This is pretty nice. It is very chill and ambient. I like the additional keys and laser snare thrown in durin gthe middle. Didnt quite know where the song was going in the beginning, a nice voice over that alone could be nice. Will listen to the rest when I get a chance

I just played it.

I loved that "Forgotten, Fossilized, Archaic" song; never heard of Autumn's Grey Solace before, guess I gotta check 'em out.

I really enjoyed your selection, I'll give it another spin later, thanks for posting.

That's an interesting mix..I really enjoyed the majority of that on first listen.

Track 1 is good, I like to listen to some recessed vocals where I'm not being screamed at..very relaxing and melodic. I'll look into this band some more.

Track 2 is gold, right up my street. I might have heard of Autumn's Grey Solace back in the day when I read the Ecto mailing list avidly, but I've really missed out. I'm a sucker for wispy female vocals, and this is a great example. I'll be checking this band out if their other songs are anywhere near as good as this!

I've heard Teardrop and Policy Of Truth many times, but those who haven't will be impressed I'm sure.

I'll need to give the Bjork track more listens..I'm a big Sugarcubes fan, but aside from 'Venus As A Boy' and 'Human Behaviour' I've struggled to get into her solo material. Probably it's me, more than her..!

I'm not hugely into ambient music per se and this is the first listen, so forgive me if I don't have much else to say at this juncture. The Limbo track didn't go anywhere for me, although it's probably not meant to! I'm a sucker for melody, what can I say.

However..you're a talented composer! I liked both your tracks. Especially 'Alien'. Did you mean it to be so spooky? By a twist of fate, it coincided with me reading this:

http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/grieving-daughter-and-sister-amy-cox-1572046

It kind of freaked me out, whilst I was reading that truly shocking story..

Overall a great effort, thanks and I'll listen to it again and may have other comments to make.

Thanks! biggrin You might want to listen to Alien without looking at stories like that lol That story is just creepy. Whenever you see horror films you usually say stuff like that never happens, well it did eek

This was pretty nice, that Carmen has a very nice sweet voice on her. The music was a little out of my taste but I thought the singers voice stood out the best.

06 - Amphibian

Performed by: Björk

Wow this track is very Bjork. I dont know too much about her and have a couple of her tracks...but everytime she makes me fall in love with her music again. There is something deep and personal about the way she makes music and this track is just as personal...you can just hear how well she is connected with her music between all the effects and warm melodic analog like layers.

07 - Teardrop

Performed by: Massive Attack & Elizabeth Frasure

This song is the theme song of a TV show isnt it? House or something? My frist time hearing it in its entirety. Very good. Haunting. The vocalist is good. I see a similar theme in the singing style in your selections.

Emotional and haunting. I dont really have any words for this. Its quite atmospheric and cold. Not depressing but stark and a bit scary. Id be scared if I was playing Dead Space and this music came on. Good job on it. A nice listen on my big dj headphones.

01 - I'll Think I'll Star A Fire

Don’t know why but I thought this would be sung by a man. I love how this builds and by the end the music reflects the philosophy of burning, a small spark into a full flame. This is a great song.

02 - Forgotten, Fossilized, Archaic

This song made me emotional. I gravitate towards lyrics and I didn’t understand a lot of them but the music on this track really touched me. Of course I did understand “haunting memories” lol

03 - Limbo Title Theme

Rain & Bees. Clarity and confusion. No wonder it’s called Limbo.

I listen first then read your commentary. What game is this from?

04 - Hidden Voices

WHAT?! faint I exclaim LOVE exclaim THIS exclaim When I read “performed by me” I went crazy lol I am interested what kind of lyricist could sing to this song. Whoever it would be they’d have to be amazing.

This would be perfect in a sex club lurking

05 Candles

What I like about this is that it sounds like it could be current but was released in the mid 90s. This track is great and reminds me how AWESOME the 90s were musically. Everything was everywhere love I also love that you bought it based on the cover alone. I have done that in the past and one of my favorite comfort albums was found that way: From the City to the Sea by Mighty Truth. love2

06 Amphibian

I am embarrassed to say I don’t know where this is from. boxed It’s Bjork, of course I love it lol

07 Teardrop

clapping clapping clapping This song is FANTASTIC! I used this in a mix titled “Fluid” which I crafted in honor of my sign Pisces. Most everything had a water related title or thematically fit in that way. This is truly an amazing amazing AMAZING song!

08 Alien

OK, you REALLY know how to title your songs biggrin Do you create the music first then title it or do you create the music based off the title? I am so fascinated and really want to know about your creative process. There is a little beep in there that makes me think of the spaceship touching down. I would love to hear the stories creative writers could come up with on this track. Did the Alien ever land? Was earth too scary? Was there confusion and disgust because how different it looked here? So many questions!!! smile

This is not sex club material lol wink

09 - Old Iced Piano

I love that you are recognizing someone who may not have the luxury of getting feedback on a large scale. Did you share with them your contribution to their track? If so, what did they say??

10 - Policy Of Truth

I just LOVE that you ended with this song clapping This song is interesting because it is not at all advocating the policy of truth lol

This is an excellent mix clapping Musically it is completely cohesive and I feel that it has a great theme. The title of the opening track makes me think of cavemen and how the idea of consciously creating fire completely changed humanity. The next track title simply reflects how ancient man is regarded by many. Then you go into limbo and hiding and the Amphibian is in the center of fire and water. The amphibian most noted for change is the frog. It goes from one element to the other, changing and adapting naturally. You have the confusion of the Alien, ending with the concept of truth. I love this mix! biggrin

And I had no idea that you were a musician. You really should share more of that part of yourself here. Your music was so perfect in this mix and those are incredible songs.

Thank you for the love!! I do write lyrics. I think my lyrics are like a combination of Neil Tennant and Prince, but on an accute level. I title my songs after I've made them with the first words that come to mind. I base songs after ideas that into my head. Very rarely do they come out like I plan and very often I cannot even fulfill the songs I want to make because of how limited my production is. Alien wasn't really meant to tell a story. I just thought it sounded like something from a sci-fi film so I called it alien lol The beginning and end of the song popped in my head one day and the rest kind of came together while I made it.
