Posthumous Aaliyah Tracks: "Girlfriends + ''Quit Hatin''
January 19, 2013
While we continue waiting for some kind of official confirmation on whether or not to expect a real deal posthumous Aaliyah album, we'll just keep enjoying the mysterious new tracks that find their way online.
Her latest, "Quit Hatin,'" is an icy R&B ballad produced by Knotch (Chris Brown, Kelly Rowland) and L.A. DJ Dre Sinatra. The other track, "Girlfriends", arrives via DJ Carisma.
Not much is known about the tracks except that they may or may not have leaked before.

There's a reason why these tracks, have remained, "unrleased". "Love is like peeing in your pants, everyone sees it but only you feel its warmth"

About "Girlfriends"
Timbaland and Playa’s record label, Blackground Records, was equally impressed and signed Yaushameen to a solo deal. She was ready to let the world see what she was about but also realized she needed to be patient and hone her skills. Her path of success continued with the meeting of Aaliyah through Static. Aaliyah, as with all who encountered Yaushameen, was impressed with her gift and wanted to put her on the next self-entitled Aaliyah album. Aaliyah and Aaliyah alone wanted to present Yaushameen to the world and hence the track ‘Girlfriends” was made. A sultry track about women’s empowerment, unfortunately it did not fit the vain of the Aaliyah record and did not make the final cut.
Also, that's not the original production of the record. THIS is the original
"Quit Hatin" is from 1999 I believe but as usual, the production is way off and sounds nothing like the original.

So what we have are oldish vocals married to more polished and altered productions. Thanks for the details.

To be honest I love Aaliyah, but, she didnt have that kind of output to be going crazy for tracks 11 years later. I despise when they match up artists from now who like her and then slap them on her tracks that werent meant for release. Its one thing if she was doing a record when she was killed, but she wasnt, the record was out already, there was almost nothing unreleased by her and her family said this back then, now just because DRAKE thinks he can marry her ghost because he met her in a dream etc...Let her go at this point. This is exactly the problem Julian Lennon had when they took "real Love" by his dad that WAS not meant to be a Beatles track ever, but to give the anthology new tracks they took 2 Lennon tracks that didnt make records, and then slapped Paul,George and Ringo playing and singing on it, i dont blame him for not wanting that to come out. No release date has been announced, Script. That might be a good thing.

You're right, Identity. Whatever happened to Yaushameen? "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

I think she's still an active user on MySpace. She has a Twitter account, but her comments are not visible to the public.
