What Do You Think Of Racial Slurs In Music?

I'm curious as to opinions over the use of certain words in music.. i am talking of course of the ''N'' Word ''C'' word (The one offensive to Asians and the one that women hate) and other kinds.

I think a lot of gangster rap is what has made some peeps think it's ok to use the ''N'' word in daily vocabulary cause it as people have told me ''sounds cool''

Does it bug you when racial slurs are thrown around in music? or the fact that the ''n'' word is practically on every other song on the top 100 nowadays lol

What about other words outside of race like slurs towards gay people?

And this is about ALL music... country, rap, metal, electronica, pop, alternative etc.

Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

All music is shit music and no music is real- gunsnhalen

and I'm curious why you have to start a thread (or more) about "Race & Music" on a weekly basis neutral ?

this ain't the Politics & Religion forum, and I think we have said it all already (some genres are stereotypically linked to a certain race, and there are racists everywhere), period

sorry if I sounded a bit harsh...

Nothing new. Richard Wagner's music has been said to be an influence on Adolph Hitler.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

As fucked and twisted is the case, nigga is the only accepted slur used just posthumously ask MJ about They Don't Care About Us. Jlo got some flack for her song but Ja Rule took the blame since he wrote it. The most recent issue that relates to your question is the uproar over No Doubt' s video where Gwen wore Indian garb with teepees and Indian imagery for it, the vidoe was pulled from YouTube. Unless a songwriter wants the negative attention for fucks sake, no other ethnicity has such a problem with racial slurs used so frequently in popular music, if it is music specifically geared toward that group that is not in the mainstream it may happen more than I know.

I will NEVER understand some posters here, NEVER.

They go complaining about thought provoking threads and people that try to make this boring ass forum entertaining BUT will not say a word about threads that are constantly made here on a daily basis on artists that nobody gives a fuck about.
