Jamiroquai is fucking awesome!!!!! I have every album of theirs. I love Return of The Space Cowboy, Traveling Without Moving, & Synchronized. But I love [mostly] all of their albums. Their whole sound is much needed in today's climate, if you ask me. I still don't understand why they don't get much love in the US though
Btw, one of the ultimate fantasies I've ever had was wishing that [original] Jamiroquai [Jay Kay & Toby Smith] produced a whole album for MJ. Revisiting that Off The Wall era......I would have loved to have heard that! الحيوان النادلة ((((|̲̅̅●̲̅̅|̲̅̅=̲̅̅|̲̅̅●̲̅̅|)))) ...AND THAT'S THE WAY THE "TITTY" MILKS IT!

my favorite Jamiroquai album is A Funk Odyssey

A Funk Odyssey was released a few weeks before Invincible and I remember thinking that the Jamiroquai album was so much stronger than MJ's album. It made me wish that Michael had gone to Jay Kay for some uptempo tunes. Many of Jamiroquai's songs capture that late-70s Off The Wall sound perfectly."Time Won't Wait",for example. That song would have been perfect for Michael.

I concur. I can HEAR that collabo in my head. Mike prolly wasn't thinking "retro", but that combo would have kicked ass, imo. Funk Is It's Own Reward

Hmm. I'm not 100% sure about this comment, but I think Jay Kay called MJ a pedophile. I doubt that collaboration would have happened.

Man this is bangin. I was listening to Calle 13's Gringo latin funk ( great song) and they referenced this band (not in the brightest light) and i had no idea who they were or if this was just some celebrity's name. Clicked the link and really enjoyed this thanks!!!!

Here's Jay Kay with a Stevie Wonder impersonator
You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I wonder if Jay knows this is not really Stevie? He always looks knida high to me. (Just playin'.)
We went to see Zapp in Cincinatti at Bogarts in "84 or so. We were doing some very clean acid that night and we walked in a little late. There was a Stevie Wonder impersonator opening for them and it took a solid ten minutes until we got it right - he, and the acid, was just that good. "WHAT? STEVIE WONDER? ZAPP and STEVIE for $25?? NO! YES! Shut up, I'm trying to hear Steve. It's Stevie Wonder, man." (Zapp was just about as good live as a band could be live - crazy good.)
We saw Prince at Bogarts around that time with Shelia in his first live shows after Purple Rain was released. He billed the band under some fake name so he could play this little club. Shelia tore that night to bits.
We also got to see Andre there supporting Survivin in the Eighties - TIGHT, ONPOINT!! One of my favorite shows ever. Just so sexy and well performed. They turned out the white outfits from the album cover.
I need to youtube Bogarts. Some of the best acts went there. Stephanie Mills was on fire there one night. Show was a little short though. Also saw Billy Crystal there; very funny man.

My favourites are for example Butterflies, Seven Days in Sunny June among many others. I love them. "When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

Man, you ain't lyin. Ain't anything like em today. Rog & the boys prided themselves on "going ANYwhere & playing for ANYone. They left it all on the stage. 200% every night. Still haven't seen their equal to this day. Funk Is It's Own Reward

JamFan - when did you see them? Where was it? etc. I love to hear about people's experiences at shows.
Truth. If there ever was a person who "was meant for" something, it was Roger and the stage. I have never seen a person with greater happiness. He really looked like he could have spun circles up there, only to transcend into the arms of God at night's end. The Time was like that on the two nights that I saw them - tight cause they meant it with a purity of purpose and soul. That was just crazy musicianship. TEENA! LUTHER! Sweet Honey In The Rock was so powerful they almost took the entire theatre into the afterlife on the night that I saw them. The Firm with Jimmy Page and Paul Rodgers. Not a long list, but I still feel very lucky.
And I must add out of respect for Happiness and the thread, Jamiroquai would be quite something to see live. Do they tour the States much?
And favorite song is The Return of the Space Cowboy. [Edited 12/22/12 8:55am] [Edited 12/22/12 8:57am]
