Since this is becoming the Unofficial INXS sticky..wanted to post some random stuff

1) I'm thinking of buying INXS Kick 25 Super Deluxe. (The hardcover book is what is luring me in the most, along with the DVD documentary. I could listen to Andrew talk about music all day.) Anyone have it? Is it worth the steep price-tag? Will there be Kick 30 in 5 years with anything better? In 2002, Kick, X, Welcome to Wherever You Are all got remasters with bonus cuts. I skipped out on those, but I'm just wondering if Kick will get a SUPER SUPER deluxe in 5 more years? (Kinda the same problem I had with Bad 25 earlier this year...)

2)So the 2011 INXS remasters contain no bonus content or anything. Is the remastering worth it?

I am afraid I can't help you, Vanilli, cause as soon as I get some money, I am about to buy my very first INXS album. Can't wait cool

1). Well I have been eye'ing off that KICK 25 edition, i havent bought it yet. I have like 5 copies of KICK already and its far from my fave INXS album. And i have a feeling the 30th Anniversary edition will be just as good if not better, if i see it on the cheap i will pick it up tho knowing me....

2). I have just bought the remasters box set the other day on ebay for around $100AUD inc shipping so that should arrive soon, will post my impressions when it arrives. But no, no extras on those discs.

I have a 2004 deluxe edition of Kick, which is just about identical to Kick 25, give or take a couple of tracks. The B-sides are pretty decent, "Move On" and "The Trap" probably being the best. The remixes are the highlight for me though, as you'd expect they're nothing like today's dance remix's, but quality 1980's mixes with a bit more thought gone into them. The live songs were just ok i thought, i don't really go back to them.

We're here, might as well get into it.

As an aside, this thread has inspired me pick up a few things INXS, recently bought the "Full Moon Dirty Hearts" and "X" albums, and actually really like both, "X" seems to me to be really underrated also, like it nearly as much as "Kick". They need to reissue the "Live Baby Live" dvd though, finding a copy of that is like finding gold.

Full Moon's a great little album, like the raw feel and high energy of it, it's also got a more heavy rocking sound compared to their other albums which i'm quite fond of. For me it's probably on par with their acclaimed "Welcome to Wherever You Are " album so yeah it's definately underrated. Think my favourite songs are "Kill the Pain" and "Please" which for some reason sounds a lot better on this album than on the hits compilation i have. But all the songs are pretty good except for maybe "Viking Juice", probably could've used a better finale than that song. Hutchence's vocals on this album are really powerful and heartfelt too, some of his best.

I'll keep hunting around for LBL, sure i'll find it somewhere, thanks for the offer though.

Difficult question, i'm finding all their albums pretty even, all good in their own style, i'd probably favour

1. Kick

2. WTWYA

3. X

We're here, might as well get into it.

Can't rate any albums cause I've only heard two hit compilations (Definite and Greatest Hits) and Elegantly Wasted album so far. As for Elegantly Wasted, it is a good album, but not as funky as one would expect after hearing Elegantly Wasted song. I am not saying it is a bad album, just not my kind of taste. It is something I imagined them to play before I found out how funky they could be.

From what I've heard, my absolutely favourite INXS songs that I can't live without anymore are:

Elegantly Wasted

Tight

Born to Be Wild

Salvation Jane

Taste it

Don't lose your head

Mystify

Suicide Blond

Original Sin

Need You Tonight

Never Tear Us Apart

Listen like Thieves

Shine

Kick (but I've only heard only the live version from Live Baby Live)

Please (that live version from Letterman posted here)

Get your Roses Down (also known from this thread)

Songs I don't care about:

Everything

I'm just a man

The rest is cool.

I love INXS's 90's output. "Welcome to Wherever We Are", "Full Moon Dirty Hearts" and "Elegantly Wasted" are all fantastic albums - they deserved much more success than they received.

The Max Q album was also stellar. It had some terrific material on it. 'Ghost of the Year', 'Way of the World', 'Everything', 'Sometimes' - - all great tunes.

Listening to Tim's interview on the 2011 Hits DVD that came with the 2 CD set is so emotional. I always thought he was kinda a dick on the show "Rockstar: INXS" kinda like the Rockstar INXS - "Simon" American Idol, but I've been reading the INXS official biography (lastdecember I think you were the one who suggested it a few years back) and after seeing the interview..I have a whole new respect for the man.

Regarding Michael's passing, he looked down and said:

I miss him a lot, I'm still pissed at him, and I still love him.

Gave me chills. Andrew also talked a bit about Michael's passing and how (as of 2011) he was coping. Makes me proud for Michael's legacy and for the guys of INXS that Rob Thomas/INXS "Original Sin" single went number 1 in America. (I never realized it was that big here but apparently it was. It's a great remix for sure.)
