I saw her recent show in Dallas and even got her autograph at the end. The audience was pretty hostile, partly because she was very late as usual. They did not dig her rearrangements of the Miseducation songs. I was very close to the stage and it looked to me like she might be on coke or speed or something, but maybe she was just nervous. Anyway, in my view she is an incredible singer and lyricist and its unfortunate that her career has been derailed somehow. People who dismiss her as a one-album wonder need to listen to Unplugged 2.0.

Sad to hear Lauryn is still so-so on her shows confused

Her unreleased work we had a thread for few months ago... that & unplugged are her best work for sure smile

They might have been more receptive if there hadn't been such a long delay, and if Nas hadn't been so awesome as the opening act. Some of the delay might have just been the complicated logistics of removing all of Nas's equipment and setting up hers. Also, it was standing room only except for a few VIP tables, so a lot of us were physically tired by the time she got on. One woman fainted and we had to pass her down away from the stage. She might have won the crowd over if she had played a few Miseducation songs straight from the beginning and then turned to the reinterpretations and her new song "Black Rage" (a rap over the tune to "My Favorite Things" from The Sound of Music, of all things). Instead she challenged the audience until the very end when she did a straight rendition of "Doo Wop (That Thing)." By that time about 2/3 of the crowd had left. She knew what she was doing, too, as about halfway through the show she said she knew that we were all wondering whether she was sane or insane. That's when I heard someone shout, "Play that shit like you wrote it the first time!"
