How would you rate Adam Levine as a singer? Passable, good or nails on chalkboard bad? "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

I guess he is passable.....
But his voice sound s whiny & blah to me :-
And they overplay the shit out of them now
I figured They would be one of those has been rock bands of the early to mid 00s... then moves like jager came out... and payphone Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

He's got a great pitch, but I wish he'd take it down by half an octave once in a while. Saying that I only know Maroon 5 by their singles.

Adam Levine sounds like a eunuch. His live vocals border on grating, with the exception of a few tunes.

Worst non-autotuned voice on top 40

I would label him as "barely passable". He has a very thin voice and mostly sounds the same in every song. He often struggles with his pitch when performing live, though I've noticed minor improvements lately compared to when the band first hit the big time. It does seem funny to me that he's a judge on "The Voice"...

I never thought him (or Maroon 5) would still be around today. I find his tone nasally. It's the same tone people describe as whiny. Whatever it is, we all hear it. Autotune makes it worse (for EVERY singer).

i think he's fine, his sound doesn't annoy me. be kind, be a friend, not a bully.

Interesting how so many thought Maroon 5 would go the way of the dinosaur. Have you heard their version of Lovely Day By Bill Withers?

I think he can sound great sometimes. I thought his feature on Kanye's "Heard 'Em Say" was arresting and gorgeous. "That's when stars collide. When there's space for what u want, and ur heart is open wide."

I really can't listen to Maroon 5 all day. I do like songs here and there from them though (This Love and moves like jagger the most) but his voice becomes annoying after a while. [Edited 12/2/12 14:24pm]

I'll only say this: he's lucky he has a body because that's the only thing he really got going for him.

His voice went great with the music they used to do, you know, THE REAL MUSIC!! But his voice and originality doesn't go well with this poppy crap released by maroon 5 now. I wish they would return to their adult contemporary, Jamiroquai-influenced selves. I felt crushed when I heard their new album. Payphone is absolute crap, and Wiz Khalshithead doesn't make it better.

Someone needs to tell him that you aren't supposed to sing through your nose.
